How long do you ignore fussing at night? Our pediatrician told us to ignore fussing for up to 20 mins so lo can learn to sleep on her own. Last night lo was fussing and let out a few small crys here and there but did not full out cry or anything like that. But she was very fussy so I went to pick her up and she took over an hour to calm down. Now dh is all pissed off saying I'm not following the drs instructions and we will never get any sleep.

She's normally not all the way asleep when I put her down so she'll grunt and move around to get comfortable and then falls asleep. I don't consider what she's doing crying or being uncomfortable to need me though (and I've watched where she couldn't see me
This. I can tell want fussing will lead to sleep and what won't. For DS even some eyes open fussing will lead to sleep...it's more about the amount of fussing vs eyes open or closed for him. Of course, food fussing and gas fussing are different. DS doesn't like to be swaddled so there is always some calming down if he wasn't all the way asleep when I put him down.
