Sitting at the dr.s my c-section incision opened up a bit. Not too much, maybe 1/2 an inch to an inch. Hoping they can just put a steri-strip on it and send me on my way! Has anyone else had this happen? (This is my 2nd c-s)
Although it hasnt happened to me i recently talked with my OB about this when I had my staples removed. He said that it is fairly common for an incision from a 2+ c section to sometimes open or collect a pocket of fluid that may need to be drained.
Is your incision oozing? and if so is it clear, reddish, or yellow? Any odor? If not a couple of steri strips will probably be all you need.
My incision opened a bit because I had fluid behind it. Eventually the whole thing opened and I had to get it cleaned and packed every day. It is stitched closed now and is healing. I hope you don't have the same thing happen.
Oh my! No, no fluid. He checked it, it's open in two small areas. I'm to watch it and keep it dry! I am so sorry for you ladies who need to have it packed daily! That seems like it would be so painful!!!
This was my second c/s - I have what some others have described. I had a little fluid behind the incision so a part in the middle looked open and was not healing as well. My doctor said it wasn't infected and I have non-stick pads to cover the area and keep it dry. He said that area should be fully healed by my 6 week appointment. I hope so I just want to feel back to normal. Hope everyone else it's healing well.
Follow up question, because I can't remember from my last one...
The tape that held my incision together is starting to come off and my 2 week appt isn't until next Friday, am I ok to take them off if they are coming off on their own? The incision itself looks healed and scarred over but I don't want to take them off if I'm not supposed to.

If it is steri strips (small white strips) that are used to help hold the incision closed. Then no. Do not remove them. If they are starting to come off, have someone trim the ends down so the sticky part doesn't catch on clothing or anything like that.

I hope that makes sense.....
Yes that makes sense, thank you! I had another one fall off in the shower today. I want to pull the rest off soooo bad, but I won't! I'll just wait until my appt on Friday. Thanks for the reply!
I'm more dreading the hair growing back then the steri strips at this point lol. I could tell the blade was super dull and she was going to town to get it prepped.....
Hopefully they all fall off in the next shower for you!
