Miralax?

I was prescribed it for quite sometime, but had stopped before this baby. I had the stomach bug and took Imodium, which is on my prego lady list my doc gave me. But the now i cant go, i have Miralax here and really want to take it. It says its a class C drug which means little of nothing, just at your own risk. So i looked at some previous bump post from the past, where moms said the OB told them to go on ahead and take it. So the question is, would you use it just the once?

Thank goodness, I just wanted to hear someone had taken it more recently, You know every time i have got pregnant that list is different. So when i see a thread on here thats like 4 years old, I feel get paranoid its magically not safe anymore.lol

  • I always take it! I am also an RN for a ob dr and we all say take it!!! :)
  • I wS just at my doctors today and she told me that I could take it!
  • Miralax is approved for me. My baby doctor doesn't care if i take it every single day and my butt doctor said some people take it for life. Much better to not be constipated. The results of not pooping and the damage that can be done are NOT worth the worry over the Miralax!! Trust me, I am an expert on this from learning the hard way. :(

  • My OB was OK with me taking it but I unfortunately throw up every time I try.

  • I take it almost everyday as prescribed by my OB.
  • I need to get some!!
  • ^^ditto. I would take it but not for a super long time. I think the directions say that if you need it for more than a certain amount of time talk to your doctor anyway. But my OB says it's safe and it saved me when I was taking Zoloft, so just do what you feel comfortable with!

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • Oh ladies, still no luck. Ugh.... :(  I dont wanna call my doctor but if i dont get relief soon im gonna explode.lol

  • I posted yesterday about a homemade cough syrup that I have been taking. One of the side effects that it has had on me is seriously flushing my system. I have been somewhat irregular for the last few weeks but in the last two days I have gone to the bathroom 5 times. I'm not sure if it would affect your digestive system but it's worth a shot if nothing else is working.

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon honey, 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger.

I'm the weirdo who wouldn't take it, not long term anyways.  The USDA has only approved it for short term use (seven days at a time).  My doctor had prescribed it to me last year for chronic constipation.  I was needing it twice a day every day to even be close to regular.  Then I read an article that they think it may cause neurological symptoms (although, at this time the USDA is taking no actions, just watching it) and decided I did not want to continue to use it long term as I already have a list of health issues and many of them are neurologically based and didn't want to risk the chance that it actually does.  I started drinking plum juice and taking a probiotic every day and supplemented with prunes as needed, and I was able to resume a regular bathroom schedule.
@MegK82 Gah! OK, you sold me. I had to take it long-term because of a tear I received post-birth from the pain meds. I haven't taken it since the tear healed and I won't take it unless I realllllllllly have to. I's scerrrrrrred!

It can take a while to work... have faith and hang in there!

This is what works for me: I take 1x dose for 2 days in a row... wait abut 5 days and... volia! Then as soon as I've had a nice big poop I repeat. It's working well for me and I feel comfortable continuing with it as I'm only taking it 2 days out of about every 7.

  • I was constipated for 7 days after taking Zofran and my OB recommended Fleet glycerin suppositories. DH was a good sport (ha!) and the magic happened in an hour!
