comfort post breastfeeding

Once I am done bf'ing my son, will he still be comforted by the breast? We call it the boobifier in my house, because nothing else really works to soothe him.

Why would you offer the breast when you're done BFing?

    This.

If you want to keep offering the breast might as well keep bfing imo. If your LO is sucking at the boob you will probably continue to lactate.

  • Your LO will find other ways to comfort when you start weaning. It may take some time, but it will happen.
In preparation for when I stop BFing, I've stopped letting LO comfort nurse all together (except while sick). When she is done eating, she is done on the boob. She can take a pacifier, or her thumb, or can be satisfied with cuddles.

I'm with everyone else, though. Why would you continue to offer the boob if you're not BFing anymore?

  • Has already started to be soothed by other things during weaning! I was just worried it was my only " tool" BC while bf'ing I could get him to sleep any other way. Now I think he just knew the milk was there...
