Twin Stroller?

I'm sure this has been asked before and I'm so sorry to ask again but the Bump's search feature isn't working (shocking). :/ Anyway I am wondering... What type of stroller do other MoMs recommend? I purchased a BOB Dualie a few weeks ago since it was on sale for 40% off but just realized I can't use it... They do not make a twin car seat adapter. (FTM total fail). I'm so frustrated I have to return this huge item somehow now to Amazon and I just hope it's free to do so, but in the meantime... Now what do I get? What can accommodate two newborns? Are there any strollers they can both grow into or will I have to purchase something larger down the road? I am so overwhelmed. Thanks ladies.

  • I wouldn't be so quick to return the bob. You'll have many years of use once the babies can sit in it.

I'd look into a stroller frame for the NB period. I have the joovy twin Roo but the double snap n go is also an option. You'll use it for 6-9months tops and can buy used on CL even.

There are a few strollers that can accommodate two infant seats but I'm not a fan of the travel system anyway. I prefer the stroller frame and then a regular stroller for the long haul.

  • We have two graco snugride 30 car seats and the graco duoglider stroller they both fit into. We haven't used it yet as my twins are in the NICU but we like it thus far!

  • I only bought the BOB and it's been great so far. The seats basically recline almost flat and I've put my babies in it from the beginning. If I did it again, I would probably get a double stroller frame for the beginning if I didn't want to get them out of their car seats.
  • I haven't had my babies yet, so take this with a grain of salt, but i didn't really like any of the strollers that accomodated two infant seats so I got a double snapngo. That gave me a lot more options to pick out a double stroller for when they are out of infant seats. You can get the DSNG for $80 new pretty frequently, and even cheaper used.

  • Thank you so much ladies. I am so confused about the car seat thing. I know most moms use a car seat adapter/stroller frame situation for newborns (if they're sleeping in the car & you don't want to wake, etc), but what about babies? Do you take a baby in a car seat and snap it into a stroller too? Or is that not possible? I would really like to keep the BOB if I can use it. I know this question sounds really stupid but I am FTM and have no friends with babies/twins so I'm just so confused by everything logistically.

  • As long as they're in the infant bucket seat you can pull the whole car seat out (same car seat for newborns). Mine are 9 months old and still in these car seats. They're just getting heavy to carry.
  • For the newborn period DW and I have the Double Snap-N-Go, which accomdates two KeyFit 30s just fine.

Once the babies outgrow the Infant Car Seat, we will need to get a different stroller. Something like the City Mini Double most likely.

Assuming you get the infant car seat/carriers, there's a release button on the carrier. You lift it out of the car seat base (which will stay in your car) and away you go. Then if it you clip it into a syroller later on you release it from the stroller and pop it back into its base. You don't have to take the kids out or adjust the straps or anything to do this.

If you opt for convert able car seats, they always stay hooked into the car. Then you'd have to take the baby completely out of the car seat and put the baby only into a stroller or carry him/her.

The infant carrier was very nice with our Singleton. I'm waiting to catch the joovy twin roo on sale to get it for the twins. (We still have a few months). We have a cheap double stroller to use when they get older. I see no reason to return the stroller you have if you really like it. The infant frame only works as long as the babies are in their infant car seats. Most go up to about 30 pounds now. There's also a height limit to the seats. After the kids are out of the infant seats, you have to move on to something else.

If you get one if the big "car seat/stroller systems" you can use the regular stroller seats after they outgrow the infant carriers. A lot if those doubles seem to be overly bulky to me? Try going to buy buy baby or babies r us and look at what they have to get an idea of what you like the best. If you like the stroller you have now best, keep it! But maybe also pick up some sort of snap n go. If you like something else much better, send it back. Everyone likes things a little different.
  • Joovy roo is great for the car seats :) and keep the bob for when they get older.

    Ditto.

I have a double snap n go (DSNG) that I use mostly now (twins are 9 months) for shopping and stuff where I won't be out for hours on end (babies in infant carriers, straped into the DSNG).

I have a double jogger I use for neighborhood walks, and trips where we will be out for hours on end (babies reclining in the seat, out of the infant carriers).  This is great for the zoo or anywhere I need to "off-road".

And I just got the Contours Optima (tandem) for when I switch them to convertible car seats.  It will replace the DSNG for shopping trips and places where the side by side jogger will be difficult to maneuver.
