Any other teeth grinding kiddos?

Seriously, it is comparable to nails on a chalkboard. What gives? Does anyone have any experience with their kids grinding their teeth? I think she's doing it because she's teething, but I feel like that would make it worse. I'm at a loss, I have no idea what to do. If I ask her to stop she does it more, and if I ignore her she keeps doing it anyway. I'm afraid she'll ruin her teeth.

TIA

DS has had phases where he's done this for a week or so, usually when he's getting teeth, but he always loses interest in it. i bet your DD will, too-- here's a brief article on it.

p.s. i think like the article says, it's just a novel sensation. like right now DS discovered he can make a funny noise when he strums on his lips with his finger, so he's doing it a lot, but eventually it won't be new anymore and he won't do it so much.

Ooooh, I so hope you're right! Thanks for the input!

  • I think DD does it at night when her pacifier falls out.
  • DD got very into teeth grinding this summer for a few weeks, but we just ignored it and it went away.  She hasn't started with her molars, not that I can tell, anyway.
  • I feel like it's making it harder to get rid of her pacifier because I just shove it in so she maws on that instead, ahh

    I hope it's just a quick phase!

  • My son does it occasionally and it makes me crazy! I hope it's a phase that will pass quickly.

  • My DD just started doing this the past few days! I remember DD #1 doing this too, so I'm hoping this phase passes quickly!
