2nd Trimester

Trying to calm DH down...

This is when google is evil....

We had our big U/S yesterday and they found out I have a low lying placenta so they want me to go back for a 2nd U/S to check it out with a high risk specialist and keep it monitored.

Now DH is totally freaking out and only reading the stories about excessive bleeding, instead of the information that says this will most likely remedy itself and it's not harmful to the baby.

He freaks out so easily, it's sweet but he's got to chill.

PS It's a girl! Yay!

  • congrats on the girl.  I have the low lying placenta thing, too, with another u/s in january.  my doctor told me not to worry about it, so until we have a reason to, we won't.

let him know that everything will be okay, low lying placenta or not.:)

  • I had a low-lying placenta with my first I had an extra ultrasound at 24 weeks and 28 weeks at my regular clinic and it had resolved by the 28 week u/s.  I had not problems and I think that is pretty typical.  Good luck calming YH down and congrats on the girl!!!!

  • Congrats on the baby girl.

Usually the placenta will move up eventually. You shouldn't have too much to worry about it. I think there are few other girls on here who have talked about it before.

Good luck calming DH down. At least you know he cares. :-)

  • i had a low lying placenta with my DS - and by 30w it had moved up- was never an issue- never even spotted.  Don't worry- it is VERY common!!!

    congrats on the girl!!

  • Congrats on the girl!  Hopefully everything turns out okay.  We have to go back for a follow up ultrasound, too.  It happens to a lot of people!
