I'm 36 yeara old, 32 weeks along with a little boy, and I have a rare neurological disease called spinocerebellar ataxia. I have a novel subtype of this disease that some big research hospitals are studying. My baby has a 50/50 chance of inheriting this from me and there's no way to test for it yet (not that I would anyway).
I'm having to be followed by a high risk OB because no one knows what will happen as I near birthing time. At my visit with him today he said he'd call around and try to find out if OT or PT would help or if I need to be prepared to use a cane or walker.

AND he let me know that it's still an option for me to terminate because of my disease. I was like, "are you offering to hit my son in the head with a little mallet and throw him in the trashcan?? Thank you for offering, but no thanks." O_o He said good he really didnt want to anyway. (!!!)
Sigh. So anyway I hope it won't be as big a deal and I can just pop him out like a regular person.
Re: Rare neuro disease
Will keep my fingers crossed that things go well!
