Alright, ladies who had pregnancy induced carpal tunnel... Please tell me it goes away once LO comes... Or at least isn't as awful! I can barely wash my hair because my hands are constantly numb, I don't know how I would hold a newborn! Anyone??
I have it and still pregnant 38 weeks today. i would take any other symptom of pregancy over this. My hands are numb and in pain all night into the afternoon, So bad I drop things. My one finger tip is constantly numb. My doctor tells me it could get worse before better and may take a few weeks after she is born. That scares me bc I am afraid of dropping her. I guess I will be wearing the useless braces until its gone.
@esd did it go away within a couple of weeks, or did it hang around longer? I'm worried about being able to care for a newborn like this. @lindsrules I love all those words.
I had it really bad after my first daughter was born. It was exacerbated by the fact that I had really bad swelling after delivery. The first week after delivery was the hardest with trying to breast feed. I wore my wrist braces as much as possible with this pregnancy and I didn't ave any issues post partum.

This!! It definitely bothers me more when I'm nursing and trying to get LO to latch.
I didn't have it while pregnant, but I started to feel it from nursing (repetitive hand position I guess) I changed up my hands, plus LO has better latch now so doesn't need as much support.
I developed CP at 7 months pregnant. My LO will be 3 weeks on Saturday and I still can't feel my fingertips on my left hand, but it's nowhere near as bad as when I was pregnant and I don't have to wear the braces anymore.
I've read that at 6 weeks PP your body returns to its non-pregnant state so I'm holding out for that mark before I start considering this a permanent condition.
OMG your post took the words right out of my mouth! I have had the worst carpal tunnel for the last 2 months. I am wearing wrist braces which have now made absolutely no difference. Often I can't feel any of my finger tips, and when I do certain actions, like washing my hair both of my hands are completely numb. I've had a really easy pregnancy so I'm trying not to complain but operating with numb hands is getting to very difficult and at times painful...I'M SO OVER IT! I hope it goes away quickly. Friends and my mom told me it went away within hours of giving birth but my doctor said it could take up to 6 weeks...I'm praying its not the latter!
