I hate needles

I started Follistim last night. And I hate needles! It was so surreal starting the injects again. It feels like such a long time since poor DH had to stick me last (June 2012). He was so nervous, but he did just fine. Of course this time my stomach is covered in stretch marks! We have 2 more days of follistim until my next ultrasound. And then I predict I'll need a few more days of follistim before trigger. Come on follies!! Grow baby grow!

I hate needles too. DH does all my shots, but I did one in the bathroom at a restaurant the other night, and I almost passed out. I just can't do it myself.

I've never even felt a follistim shot. I hate menopur. Are you doing IVF?

The injections always stressed me out, but DH never had to do them. The first two days I was on injections we had plans separately and were far apart for the evenings and I couldn't have him do them in the time frame needed, so I had to do it. It's not fun, but if it works, the reward is awesome.

I hated the follistim injections for any of number of reasons, but my pharmacy put a bag of hershey kisses in with my medicine and so as a reward for manning up and doing the shots I ate a LOT of chocolate. :-/ So I guess what I'm saying is, it sucks, but your not alone and my suggestion is to treat yourself to something that will make you feel even just a little bit better... I think I might sound like I'm five (candy for shots), but it worked for me and I hope you find something that works for you. Good luck and best wishes that the follistim is fruitful for you, it was part of our magic combo the first time around.

I am luck I have no fear of needles anymore, after I started getting tattoos regularly I found I had no issues with them any more. I am sorry you are having a rough time with injections

No, we're not doing IVF. Just a medicated cycle with TI. We don't have sperm issues. I just don't ovulate. So we're trying to get follicle growth and then we'll trigger. This was the magic formula for ds and we got pregnant on our second round. I'm hoping we get pregnant the first time this go round (who doesn't hope that though!)

This, although I never had a fear of them. I think I was more afraid of DH doing my PIO shots than anything. When I was showing him how to do it quickly, he took the needle and held it like he was going to stab me with it. Whoa!!!! I said slow that shit down.....

Yes! A tattoo "hurts" more than the injections do and I'm addicted to tattoos. I need a second child so I can get my next one :-)

Haha! I have to do PIO with my next pregnancy due to ds being born at 31 weeks. MY OB has already confirmed I'll be doing it and I told DH he'll be giving me the shots. I'm scared to death of it! Last night when he was giving me follistim he said 'Maybe PIO won't be that bad after all!" Easy for him to say. Everyone tells me if hurts like a mofo and there is always bruising.

I'm such wimp that I had my MOM do my trigger shots!

She's given the horses shots so I figured she had more practice under her belt than my DH :P

When do you start PIO? I start mine on the 26th.

I used to put ice packs on to numb the area first. Yeah they aren't fun. Make sure you alternate sides

I'm the same way! I don't really like needles and shots, but as long as I'm not watching I'm ok. Then when we were trying to conceive ds I starting going for acupuncture. The longer I went the more afraid of needles I became. I got to the point that just thinking about acupuncture creeps me out!

None of the stimulation shots bothered me. Menopur had a little burn sometimes. I kind of liked doing them because it felt like I was actively working on the issue. The PIO was rough though. The shot itself was fine, but the bruising afterwards - ugh!
