@AprilMay9 We have the same crib! I got white, too, because the dresser is white. And I figure it's easier to paint the walls than refinish a crib down the line. I love it, and really, you CAN'T beat the price.

YES. This is the biggest pet peeve of mine. I will judge you for life if you do this. My Dad was killed by a semi truck driver texting and driving and he hit my Dad's car head on.

@SLSchuerg I COMPLETELY understand where you're coming from and definitely did not take offense to your comment. Guys have crazy, strong egos as it is and sometimes firemen and policemen can take that to a whole new level. LOL It annoys me when people act like they are super-firemen and have never even been on a major call (there are tons of those guys). I know some that act sooooo tough but won't even climb the ladder truck (100'). I never understand why they act so big and bad and then completely wimp out like that. haha And I saw that same thing on FB, posted by people that have never experienced anything like that. I just didn't want you to think all of us are like that. Thanks for your kind comments!
I don't hate maxi dresses. But NO ONE looks good in long skirts. All I can think when I see someone in one is they look like a duggar.
@AprilMay9 I would say to each their own, but no, you're wrong. I look GREAT in maxi skirts! Always have, because I got two hips like battle ships. But it's definitely a very Californian way of dressing: maxi skirt, boyfriend style tank, flip flops, and a loosely looped scarf. Maybe a slouchy hat if it's fall. Things are different here.

1) Being a volunteer fireman in a small town is nothing to brag about.
2) Destination Maternity makes me want to throw up. $200 for a pair of jeans that you're only going to get about 5 months use out of? Maybe 15 if you have 3 kids and use them with each pregnancy? No ma'am.
WTF jeans at DM are 200 bucks?! I spent $34.95 on my jeans from there and they're super comfy. Granted, I've already put my nail through the band twice so there are holes in the panel, but still, I sure as hell didn't spend $200 on em!!
@jennypenny1014 Pea in the Pod clothing line. They're the really cute ones on display, so it's stupidly the first thing I checked out. I did see some $35-$40 jeans, but of course those are hanging low on the wall off to the side. lol I ended up getting some $30 ones (Jessica Simpson line. Who knew!?) that were on clearance. All of their dresses were like $65 and up, which is one of the reasons I went in there. I wanted to look for something for my shower, but no luck there.

Oooooo Ok I respond to this one 7 pages later - so have not read yet so no idea if anyone else has commented.....
I'm a volunteer Firefighter (Firewoman if you must) in a small town (well rural village really)! there are only about 7 of us, and over Christmas there were only 3 operating officers. We don't do it for the bragging rights but because we care about our community. If that affords us bragging rights than I will damn well take it because it is hard grueling work that comes with a LOT of responsibility and very very little recognition. We also struggle to get volunteers but the community complains if we are down on numbers - you cant have it both ways!!!!! Our Firefighters also attend medical call outs - which is why I also joined as a volunteer ambulance officer.
Dont worry, Im not taking offence, but I cant read a statement without defending us!
So after that rant, I am really curious what on earth has been going on in your personal life so make the above statement!!! If its someone you know that keeps banging on about it, then fine - there are always people who join just for the bragging rights - but please don't look at all volunteers this way!

@avidkeo Yes, it is exactly that - someone in my personal life. I responded and said all of that, and realized my error of making a general statement even though I had originally stated that it stemmed from an annoyance in my personal life. I'll tag you in my original response so you'll know. I appreciate your contribution to your community, and they're very blessed to have you.

Maxi dresses would be awesome...if they actually came down to my ankles. There is no way for me to wear one at 6 feet tall and NOT look like I'm middle aged and preparing for a flood.
Haha I have the opposite problem!!! being 5"3' maxi dresses are ALWAYS wayyy to long for me. Plus they are always empire lines, and while that's fine ATM, I'm a bigger girl, when I'm not pregnant I do NOT want to look like i am!

ok, off of the baby crib/shower thing, I think mustard is the ultimate condiment (the spicier, the more horseradish, the better!). And the best condiment for french fries is mayonaise.
Mustard over ketchup any day. I can't even think about ketchup without cringing. And French fries in mayo? Have never tried this!
It sounds gross, but I tried it a few years ago and I loved it!!!
Fries with garlic aioli!!! mmmmmm sooo good! (edit spelling)

On the accent thing, I have lived in New England since I was 6. However, I cannot stand New England accents. Particularly in RI, my name is Dana but people add an R to the end of my name and pronounce it Daner. That's not my name!!!
That's my name too and I would be totally upset at that pronunciation.
SLSchuerg see this is why you should read ALL of the posts before responding - especially when you are about 12 behind (well ahead but not splitting hairs hehehehe) of everyone!!
and yes that post would bug me too - if you have done that, than yeah sure, if not, don't post! do you even get snow in Texas!!!!

I told DH that I think Maine is a make-believe state. I've never actually met a person from Maine before. Any Maine(ians)? out there? And WTF is a person from Maine called? Mainer?
ETA: I have nothing against people who might actually hail from Maine. I do think you probably have superpowers of some sort though.
@avidkeo Girl, please! You had every right to express how you felt and defend something that's special to you without having read responses first. I'm just thankful you did it so nicely. "> Haha yes, snow is common in northern Texas a couple times a year, but we haven't had "snow" (more like slush) in this [very southern] part in about 3 years! So yes, that post was just a tad ridiculous. :P He's not a bad guy though.

I was totally gonna ask if they were the PiaP line, but was in disbelief that they could possibly be $200! Holy HELL! That's rigoddamndiculous. I cringe if my pants cost more than $40.
I CAN'T STAND that stupid "Let It Go" song from Frozen. It makes me irrationally angry and want to hurt people. I'm fine one minute, then I remember it exists and I get all like this.
UO: Birth control slipped to girls at a young age!
Back story: In the back waiting room during 3 hr test a mother and daughter were waiting to be called while I was waiting on my last 2 blood draws. A mother comes in with her 3 children (ages 1,8,9) who is 38 weeks along and said she was about to force the baby out because its not right to be 40 weeks pregnant (save the UO for next week) We were talking about daughters and I mentioned my 14 yr old and how a visiting doctor had mentioned putting her on BC to help control her cycle and bad PMS. I mention the side affects and she said she gave them to her daughter from the time she had cycles till she graduated school. Supposedly the daughter thought it was a vitamin the whole time.
While I am in favor of birth control it should not be given to younger girls and for such an extended period of time. Birth control can leave a girl/woman infertile.

Serenla Let's say my daughter never say that doctor again (and he was a pediatrician at that). She was 10 when she had her first cycle. By the age 11 she was so bad off she was missing school during that time of the month. Once her pediatrician saw her we got her on a low dose pain reliever and a special diet to help and she is doing so much better.
As for the woman trying to evict her baby I seriously think she is a little off somewhere. Her 1 yr old was born at 40 weeks and was only 3 lbs. Baby girl is so precious but only wears a 6 months clothing size. I am worried about the one she is carrying now!

From what I have learned from personal research and my reproductive course in college all hormonal forms are capable of leading to infertility after long periods of use. Also preteens are most likely to suffer hormonal imbalances as they get older because their bodies are flooded before their bodies are capable to direct them properly. If you ever read the disclaimers completely provided by the manufactures it states it's a rarity. Upon research it's a lot more common than they state.
Oh oh here's another. I hate chocolate chips in my pancakes or waffles. I think it's weird.
same! But I love blueberries.
Ick to BOTH. lol. I like chocolate chips in chocolate chip cookies, and that's IT. And blueberries are... ugh. Same with raspberries! They have FUR! Oh, can't deal. Kiwi? Don't get me started.
Although, as irrational and insanes as that sounds, I love peaches and blackberries. Suuuuuper weird.
I also don't like skittles.. Someone left candy on the breakroom table today and it was skittles and sweet tarts. Gross times 2. Yuck.

I definitely feel as if extended use of hormonal BC (same exact pill for 15 years) led to our fertility struggles with DD. For 13 of those years I was sexually active so it's hard for me to say "I regret taking it" -- but I definitely have a ton of mixed feelings on the subject.
I feel the same way about kids getting add medication and calling it a "vitamin." I don't think anyone should be given medication without their consent, and you can explain what it is to them in an age appropriate way.
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
With all due respect @mamrotu75, I am not sure exactly what highway you were driving around on in Mississippi but the whole state can't be summed up by a little kudzu on the side of the road. I've lived in south Mississippi my entire life and it is quite lovely. The picture below is my backyard, and I think it's pretty awesome. I hope you might visit again someday and change your mind. Mississippi is a complicated place with plenty of demons in its past, but it is also beautiful and I'm very proud to call it my home. I also have one hell of a southern accent, and I'm kind of smart. I even managed to go to college and somehow get 2 degrees... And I'll be damned if one of them doesn't say "doctorate".

On Southern accents: I don't think they make you sound less bitchy. I think they make people sound less smart.
Also, I dislike TX, MS, LA, and AL in general.

That is just so rude!
An ex-boyfriend of mine was from Maine. He always called himself a Maine-iac.
I had fries with mayo in belgium. They were awesome. Although this was at a beer festival and I had been drinking nonstop the entire day so there's that....

I do not advocate calling medication "vitamins", but as a nurse - I do not agree that children should give consent to take medications. You can explain it any way you like - if the medicine doesn't taste good, they won't take it. Children don't understand long term consequences or importance of medication. I'm not really talking about ADD medication - but blood pressure meds, heart meds, seizure meds, antibiotics...which meds to you force them to take without consent? Because I can tell you, I have had to hold down numerous children as old as 7 or 8 (usually after that, they may not WANT to take a med, but will because they HAVE to) and forced them to take a medication. Sorry, not optional. Your parents make the decision for you.
