Crib wedge and Reflux

DS has acid reflux that is well controlled by medicine now. He slept in the rock n play every night until this past week. We've been transitioning over to the crib and just last night got him to sleep a good long stretch in there. He might have slept there all night but I went into his room at 2:30 in the morning because he'd squirmed and wiggled so much during sleep that he'd moved himself to the bottom of the crib - I put the mattress on a slight incline to help with the transition and reflux. He woke up to eat when I tried to move him back to the head of the crib, and since I'm a working mom decided to put him back in the rock n play than deal with him possibly waking every hour for the rest of the night.

Has anyone had luck with the crib wedges that are really slight inclines? That's pretty much the same incline as the mattress currently is, but since its not the whole mattress maybe he won't squiggle himself to the bottom of the crib?

Re: Crib wedge and Reflux

  • Yes, it helped her with the reflux and transitioning from RnP. She still moves around everywhere...as long as she is sleeping happily and not in a dangerous position I don't care.

  • DD has reflux and she also used to sleep in a RNP.  Right after Thanksgiving, we transitioned her to the crib with a crib wedge.  Now that she is almost 6 months, she is definitely moving around in the crib a lot more.  I really only move her if she just finished eating and I want to keep her at an incline or if she is upside down with her feet where her head should be.

  • We tried the wedge but it wasn't enough of an incline and was too hard so it wasn't comfortable for our LO. So now I stick a very flat pillow under his sheet and he loves it. He still wiggles all over the crib but he sleeps good for the most part. We also used the RnP but he couldn't really "stretch out" in there so now we are transitioning back to his crib where he can stretch.
