Highchairs

I already have a regular highchair for my 2 year old but it takes a lot of room so I'd like to sell it and get one of those portable booster chairs that strap to your dining room chair. But I'd love recommendations of who has one and what brand. Thanks

Re: Highchairs

  • Our high chair DD uses now also has a booster seat with it and the high seat also detaches and can strap onto the booster and sit in a chair. So I think well move DD to the booster when baby needs the high chair...

We have a Tripp Trapp for DS, but I'm not sure what we'll do for this LO.  I'd love another TT, but they're so expensive.  I've been stalking CL and local buy/sell sites.

Anyway, both my mom and MIL have this booster seat and it works great!

  • We have one like Snowpants' first picture, that also has a base but it's been in our basement for the last 10 months because it was taking up too much room.

We also have a regalo portable high chair, like snowpants' second picture but without the base.  It comes with straps to latch onto chairs/benches.

  • We had snowpants' suggestion for our house and lilnunz1's for the car. The first one was great, you can just take the cover off in two seconds, launder it and it was brand new. The second one was stored in the car and great for restaurants. People looked at us weird that we brought our own high chair but he always ate so much better in his own seat than in a high chair or a booster. Now that he is bigger we use that one at home without the tray just to give him a boost so he doesn't make as much mess since he is fine now at restaurants to either sit in a booth or with a small booster they provide.

  • we have the FP spacesaver as well. I did read reviews that said the straps were hard to clean. My husband manages to get them out and we throw them in the washer.

I didn't want this huge thing in our dining room. It's been perfect..goes right on a chair and we've transported it when necessary and it hasn't been too big of a pain to bring to my parents house etc

  • We don't have a lot of space, and I really didn't want a highchair out all the time, so we ended up with a folding one.

We had the Joovy Nook Folding Highchair from 4 months - 18 months. I would fold it after dinner and hide it behind the couch. You can get them in colored "leatherette", which was way easier to clean than the fabric version on amazon.

At 18 months, she wanted to sit in a big-girl chair, so we switched to the OXO Tot Seedling Youth Booster. It's stylish, low profile, and you can wash the whole thing out in the sink after dinner. The bottom is rubberized, so it doesn't slip, but we never left her alone in it before she was a little over 2. Now at 2.5, she can get in and out of it herself. She has never fallen out.
  • We have the fisher price space saver like the 1st picture. This is small, fits on normal chairs and can really be used from birth since it reclines so much. My DD has been using this for 2 years and we will be passing it on to the new baby.

For my DD we are going to get her the Stokke Trip Trap with no baby kit. Those are just the best chairs! I think it will last her a very long time and I love the aqua color so we are going to make the investment.

We have this one for traveling and works great for an older baby that sits well all the way to my 2 year old. Can be folded with a compartment to store a cup, spoon and fork ect.

  • We have the Chico 360 one that hooks on the table and it worked great in our apartment.  We need to find a booster at some point though, so that Lucia can transfer up and new baby can use the Chico.  It's fairly easy to take along to friends' houses and things, which I like.

Not sure that this is what you have in mind, but we also have a Ciao! Baby portable highchair for camping/picnics/bbqs and I LOVE it.

That first one is the exact one I bought my SIL for her first child 2 years ago, and they still use it. It is very handy; I would highly recommend it. And that second one is awesome! I never though of a high chair for camping/picnics.

  • We had the FP spacesaver at grandma's house and my DS (though he has always been on the bigger side) outgrew it pretty fast.  At home we had the chico clamp on and loved it. https://www.amazon.com/Chicco-Caddy-Hook-Chair-Red/dp/B000A7V1EM

I think we might have the same one.  We have the Graco Blossom 4-in-1 - it has a detachable seat that straps to the seat or can attach to the highchair base.  I won't need to buy a second seat for this baby, because he/she will be in the highchair part and DS in a regular chair with the removable booster.  It does take up a good bit of space, but it has worked great for us.

And for the record - we
don't have the puffy seat attached to
the black booster attached to the regular chair - that part is still attached to the highchair (if that makes sense).  I didn't even realize that it did that.  It's has worked great for us.

We love it too!!! I only attached the puffy seat to the booster when she was realllly little and we went to my Grandmas!

    It has held up well!

I second this one. It's the one we used and we had no issues. I loved that I could use it from when she was a few months old, up, since it leans back.
