Part time jobs

Some of y'all may remember that MH and I have been discussing me quitting. It's still on the table, but until we hear some things about our salaries/bonuses, we are still in limbo. As of now, we know I will at least drop down to part time. I have a question, though.

Where the heck do I find part-time work?

I prefer an office type job as I'm afraid retail or food service would just cover daycare costs, and I also need a set schedule, especially with tax season approaching (MH is a CPA). He works 7 days a week, usually 11-14 hours a day.

I used a staffing agency to get my job and my company apparently has contracts with the agency and two others that they can't help people get out of here. Great. I've found one that can, but there part time positions are few and far between. I thought maybe y'all would know where else to look.

FYI FB friends, please keep this off. Nobody knows yet and I'm friends with a lot of coworkers and spouses.

I second the receptionist/clerical work. I definitely do more than your typical receptionist since I've held on to a lot of my full time duties, but I also make more than your average receptionist. Not sure what my title would really be...

I also second hospitals and banks, and throw school offices in there as well. Those seem to be some of your higher paid PT jobs.

I suggest to check in univiersities and colleges. They often have part time administrative assitant jobs and the environment usually very friendly/relaxed.

Aw Stoked I know how much you want to be done with your job so I'll be praying a PT job comes up quickly...and something that will be perfect for you guys' schedule. I also have a husband that works crazy hours during tax season so I can sympathize there! Wish I had more advice, but I'll be praying for ya!!

They usually have good hours and lots of holiday time too! Lots of businesses will have clerical/receptionists though. Maybe ask around with people you know locally, but that don't know anyone you work with? When I went part time I took on a receptionist/ office manager job at Emma's daycare. It's awesome because I just take her to school while I am working and I get free tuition. I know all the teachers well and can peek in at her if I want. Anytime the school is closed for holidays or weather days I'm automatically off too. If I hear of anything around here I will let you know!

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. I think a local community college is a great place to try.

Here is a crazy idea... How about waiting tables? That is not an office job, however the pay is pretty good if you're in a good urban area. I'm quitting my job after maternity leave this time around and I'm seriously considering waiting tables 3 nights/week. One dinner shift can yield $200+ including tips. It is not easy work by any means, but depending on the restaurant/area and clientele, you can do very well.

Someone already said banks....my DH worked full-time in a bank and they had lots of part-time people that worked hours like 10-3. .

The municipality might have some part time office jobs. I work for the City and I know there are a few part time office jobs that I see pop up on the job posting site from time to time and they pay well.

My sister has two part-time jobs that she likes and are pretty flexible.

#1 - she works at Coach in the mall (I know you said no retail, but they do allow set schedules at least at her store)

#2 - she works doing tech support for a cable company. so, an office-type job, but she gets to work from home and can request specific hours. That might be something to look into.

My aunt works as an aide in the school setting and she loves that - really part-time and flexible.
