I was induced twice using Pitocin. The first one lasted 14 hrs with 30 mins of pushing, the second 12 hrs with 2 1/2 hrs of pushing (big boy). I had no complications with either.
If you've already started dialating, it tends to be easier. I went in at 1 cm, was put on Pitocin. Six hours later, baby. I only pushed for about 20 minutes.
They inserted cervidil the night before to soften the cervix. Pitocin next day to start contractions. After 12 hrs of active labor I failed to progress past 2 cm, so I chose to go home and give her more time. Week later I had scheduled c-section.
I had cervidil inserted at 8 pm, water broke at 5 am, DS was born at 5 pm. No big complications, and I never got pitocin. But, as PPs said, every induction is different.
I had oxytocin with #2, the stubborn baby. Started the drip at 10:30am, contractions got bad at 2:15pm, and baby was born at 3:12pm with six pushes. I don't think it's typical; my first came really easily, so I had a history of easy delivery. But it can be simple, and absolutely nothing to worry about. Except you know when that baby is coming, and that can be scary in and of itself.
I had a nightmare induction that I really hope was a fluke because I'm being induced again.
I was started on cervidil on a Monday night. It made my cervix unbearably tender for checks. Started pitocin Tuesday. Wasn't progressing very well. Wednesday they broke my water at about 3 cm to get things going a little better and started my epidural. Nothing Thursday. Friday they stopped my epidural because they thought they were going to do a c-section, I had only gotten to about 5 cm. They gave me an hour to progress more or they were taking him. After the epi wore off I jumped to 9 in the hour deadline and then 10 minutes later to 10cm. Took 4 hours of pushing before he was born. Then they couldn't stop my bleeding, probably because they let my induction take 5 days.
But, like I said, I'm trying it again and really hoping things go better this time.

I was induced at 39w3d for chronic hypertension. They inserted Cytotec the night before to soften my cervix, though it didn't seem to do much. Pitocin was started at 7AM the next morning, at which time I was 2-3cm dilated, maybe 70% effaced IIRC. At around noon I was finally 4cm, my OB broke my water, I requested the epidural, and it took a while to get it working - maybe by 1? The next time I was checked, at 2:45PM, I was at 8cm. I started pushing at 4:30PM, and DS was born at 5:21PM. Labor was about five hours shorter than my OB predicted; it took a while to get going, but once it was active, it moved fast and furious. No regrets!
With my first i was induced with pitocin because my water broke at 6am but i didn't have any contractions and didn't dilate... They started the pitocin at 4pm. By 930 pm i had only dilated to 3cm and was in a lot of pain so i got the epidural... by 11pm i was 10cm and started pushing.. she was born at 1130pm... i wasn't dilating because of the pain, the midwife said i was too tense because of the strength of the contractions.
Lurking from 1st tri...with DD I went in at 8pm on Monday and they gave me cervadil. Not much happened so on Tuesday at about noon they inserted a balloon catheter and my contractions started about 30 mins later. By about 5pm my water broke and I got an epi. I was slowly progressing so they started pitocin. After midnight I was finally dilated 10cm, pushed for an hour with not a lot of progress so they had me stop for an hour, they uped my pitocin and let my body do it's thing. Then I pushed for another 1.5 hours and she still was not descending like she should. They did the suction thing as a last ditch effort and finally I went in for a c-section. She was born at 5:54am on Wednesday.
5:30 am arrived at hospital, pitocin shortly thereafter. I was 2 cent. Broke my water when they started the drip. 6 hours later I was 3 cent . Then within one hour I was at 9... And he had flipped. Emergency c section. I think I figured I just KNEW what the pain felt like. I was dead wrong!! I wasn't prepared for the pain of contractions. No complications other than him deciding to enter the world butt first
Re: Being induced ?
Being induced can increase your chances of having a csection.
Monster Truck (It's a GIRL!) is due 19/02/2015!

The induction itself wasn't bad but dd had shoulder dystocia and broke her collarbone. Due to that I will be having a c section this time.
