Weight gain

So I have been pretty swollen the last few days and last night had a major headache. I'm 36 weeks btw. Then today I went to the dr and had gained 8 pounds! I almost died and the dr actually seemed concerned. My blood pressure was fine and so was my urine. I now have to go back Friday for a blood pressure checked. Has anyone had this happen? Should I be worried?

    Was it 8 lbs in one week? Your doctor is probably concerned about preeclampsia. Classic symptoms are headaches, sudden drastic weight gain, and severe swelling along with high blood pressure. Unfortunately, these are also symptoms of late pregnancy and severity is kind of a judgement call.

    It's most likely fluid retention. Try cutting back on salty foods and drinking more water. Sounds counter-intuitive but drinking more water helps flush out whatever is causing you to retain fluid.

    I've also had sudden swelling and weight gain... my ankles look like they are broken they are so swollen! lol... I've also had a major attack of the munchies, which I never had throughout the pregnancy. I just seem to be hungry ALL THE TIME.

    like the PP said, it's just classic symptoms of late pregnancy. As long as you feel ok, and everything checks out at the Dr, it's just a matter of dealing with it through the end :(

    Thanks ladies that's what I'm thinking as well since my blood pressure seems to be fine. Just need to make these last few weeks! Lol thanks again for the advice :)
