Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Finger Foods

My dd is 9 1/2 mths and she has been eating a few finger foods such as- pears, sweet potato chunks, melon, cheerios, banana, puffs, loves when i make rice and brocoli and a few other things. She only has her 2  bottom teeth so far. I'm curious to see what you mommies are feeding yopur babies :)

Re: Finger Foods

  • Strips of bell pepper, asparagus (he LOVES)... I buy the fruit cups that are packed in 100% juice, drain and give him the fruit... black beans, scrambled eggs, turkey (fresh sliced at the deli, usually Boar's Head plain turkey) ripped into small pieces, shredded chicken, salmon (he really liked but was allergic), pieces of wheat bread with a little PB, shredded cheese or pieces of string cheese.. last night he tried mushroom ravioli and LOVED it (I did cut it up some into smaller pieces). I basically give him whatever we're having, but the unsalted version... as long as it's healthy!

  • I make a lot of things from this site. I started when my son was 9 months and no teeth (now 12mo and 2 teeth :) ) there are some really healthy finger foods mixed in. I make a bunch and freeze them. https://www.annabelkarmel.com/us/
  • You can also give them fruits like smushed blueberries and small pieces of banana.
  • DS is just starting to like to feel himself but doesn't quite have the pincher grasp yet.  He likes a big enough piece that he can hang on to.  Some of his favorites right now are sweet potato wedges, baked butternut squash wedges, broccoli, and green beans.  going to try hummus next, you can also dip cooked veggies or toast in hummus for them.
