My cousin is being induced tonight. She's only 36 weeks, but she and baby aren't doing well. Since getting pregnant she's developed heart problems, diabetes bad enough to need insulin multiple times a day, and hyperemesis to the point that she's on a TPN (?) machine that delivers her nutrition automatically. She already had Addison's. Basically her body just can't handle pregnancy.
Because of her medical issues and medications, the baby has not grown well. He's only about 4 lbs 13 oz (9th percentile), and today at her scan he wasn't taking those "practice breaths" the way he should. He will likely have a stay in the NICU.
So anyway, she's being induced as we speak. Please send up prayers and good juju that both she and baby come through labor as healthy as possible.
