Building up courage..

This may be a bit personal but how long did it take you ladies to build up courage to see the damaged caused to your lady parts and how soon after did you shave/wax? I'm 4.5 weeks PP with 3rd degree tear and I almost feel all better but I'm so scurrreddd to see my va-jay-jay. I want to shave since it's been weeks since I've taken care of that business but I'm so afraid.

Re: Building up courage..

  • I shaved at around 2 weeks and a few times since. I shave more than just my bikini line but don't shave all. I typically steer clear of shaving closest to my lady bits. I had a 2nd degree tear that is all healed up from what I can tell (appt on Tuesday) but I haven't looked.

  • I had a 3rd degree as well. I said I wasn't going to look but.morbid curiosity won at about 1wk pp. It wasn't that bad. I'm 2.5 wks pp and it looks almost healed so yours should look pretty good at this point.

I shaved where I could without risking any pulling or nicks at the 2 wk mark. Couldn't handle not being...ahem, tidy?...down there in addition to the tear and the bleeding.
  • I'm 2 weeks pp and have been keeping it as trim as possible without going near my tear. TMI- I made DH check that I cleaned myself properly after my first pp poo lol he kept yelling for me to stop spreading my butt cheeks because I was separating the stitching. Dermaplast is king...
  • I had a csection and want to shave so badly but don't want to hurt where the incision is. So for now I will have to remain hairy. Ufh

Pretty much this for me too, although I also looked pretty early because something felt "off", and I ended up seeing my doc around 1.5 weeks pp to make sure everything was ok down there (it was). As far as shaving, that is the least of my worries right now, haha. I'm cool with being a wooly mammoth for now. :)

  • I'm sure you are fine to look by now if it's feeling almost healed. It won't be as bad as you think, it will look just like any other area that had stitches. I shaved around 3 weeks I think. I got close to the area with the stitches but avoided pulling or getting too close.

  • I still haven't looked and I'm 7 weeks pp. Keeping trim by touch as my tear reopened and is still healing.

Thanks for sharing your story.. Now I can't stop picturing this lol.
I'm going to see if I can do it today because I'm tired of all this hairiness madness down there.
  • 7 weeks post csection I still haven't shaved, partially because I haven't had the time, and then a small part because I know once I do there will be nothing to distract from my giant ugly scar.

  • I shaved 2 weeks pp. I had an episiotomy down and a tear up. I was scared to look, but it looked fine! All healed and barely noticeable now.

  • I'm wanting to get waxed around the time of my 6 week checkup but I don't know for sure if I'm up for that. I had a second degree tear..

  • 5 weeks PP and still haven't looked. I shaved EVERYTHING though about a week ago. I had tearing and an episiotomy but my outside stitches dissolved a few days before I shaved. My inside stitches are still there though.

    DEAD.

  • I'm terrified to look as well! My doctor was not there to deliver me, and instead some 95 year old lady delivered me and stitched me up instead. Okay maybe she's not 95 but she was damn near close! I fear her eyesight&hand-eye coordination made my shit look like a jigsaw puzzle.
Fingers crossed it's not that bad...
