Surgical consult update

Just wanted to give you guys a brief update since you were so supportive when our appt got rescheduled!

After discovering an ovarian cyst on baby girl in December, we went today for more imaging and to meet with the surgeon to determine a plan of action. The cyst is smaller, but looks like it might have bled some, which by itself is no big deal, but does mean we need to watch it more closely for twisting/torsion. Because of this, we need to plan to follow up with the surgeon in the first couple weeks after birth, vs a couple months if it looked like just fluid.

BUT the wonderful news is that it can wait til she's term/decides to come on her own, won't impact our ability to deliver with my OB and wont impact the ability to have a vaginal birth. It's not causing her pain, and even if surgery is indicated after birth, it will be a simple procedure to drain or remove the cyst itself, and will leave her ovary intact.

even though it's not perfect news, we're so relieved to have a plan, and feel extremely confident in the care weve received. Everyone we met with today was so reassuring, both in their level of competence and how nice they were. I'm really grateful right now that we live where we do and have access to such high quality care!
