Update on my WTF about my dare devil!

Well when DH got home from work we took DS1 (4yrs old) to the Urgent Care and he got an X-Ray and his nose IS broken. I feel bad but his doctor said "Boys will be boys" and DS turned to me when the Dr came in to say his nose was broken and said "Mommy, I know you can't handle this because you're pregnant, so let me momma cause I got this" he was so sweet about it. And he said that he was a big boy and that he would be okay. He was so tough too because they were pushing on his nose some, checking the swelling and he only squinted once and never cried. But I'm going to be putting padding down on the ceramic tile in his room so next time he decides to play Superman, he won't break his nose! So, have any of y'alls toddlers broken their first bone yet?

Re: Update on my WTF about my dare devil!

  • My youngest daughter jumped off the couch at 22 months old and hit her foot on the coffee table. She cried for a while, and then limped around. I assumed it was just bruised/sore. The next day she refused to put weight on it. Went to dr...did X-ray...broken! I felt awful that I made her limp around for a day and a half. I just didn't see how such a short "fall" could result in broken bones!

  • My daughter broke my ear cartilage with her throwers arm and a plastic panda bear, does that count?

I'm sorry your little man has a broken bone, butbglad he seems to be taking it well!

    Married DH 7/30/11

    CSC arrived 5/7/12

    CHC arrived 6/2/14

  • My DS has broken his ankle, wrist, and both bones in his forearm. He is 7, broke his first one at 20 months. Good luck with your little dare devil. I have more than a few grey hairs from mine
  • Thanks ladies! Just got back from Urgent Care again. He wasn't feeling well and I thought he had a fever but couldn't find my thermometer so Dr said bring him in cause he had a concussion yesterday. Which is why he slept 16hrs yesterday 2hrs after he broke his nose. So hes okay but under close watch (:
  • My 2 year old broke his lower leg in November after slipping on a blanket on the hardwood and was in a boot for 4 weeks.  I don't know how he managed, but he did.  2 weeks after he got the boot off he jumped off the stairs and broke his arm right above the elbow.  He has to be in a cast for 4 weeks again.  I'm a little terrified of what he might break next, but I was told the same thing..."He's a boy!"

I hope your little one feels better soon!

  • Thanks!

@LoHerrim I've had many broke bones, concussions, etc. My most severe concussion left me unconscious for 14.5 hrs. The one doctor at urgent care thats seen my boys for many of things (colds, when ex-dh let my 2yo (well day before his 2nd bday) get sun poisoning, colds, allergies, etc) says my boys get the dare devil stuff from me lol. I'm just happy hes okay and I officially hate my ceramic tile sooo much more
