Gifts for DC Provider must not be common...

in my neck of the woods.

I felt awful because I couldn't afford to give DD's sitter a big gift. When I gave it to her this morning she seemed shocked that we had gotten her a gift at all (I got her a big Burt's Bees compilation gift set). She just called to tell me how much she loved it and how touched she was.

Just thought I'd share so that you ladies that can't afford a $200 gift won't feel so bad!

    That does make me feel better! Yesterday when I picked up DS I saw some wrapped gifts on the table and I wondered if someone had got them something.. I'm nervous to give them their gift tonight- I hope they don't think it is unthoughtful to give them cash.. I just know that I like cash. Who doesn't?

    thats great! i actually got her a really pretty sterling silver locket and necklace and made her a homemade dessert. i also feel bad i couldnt afford bigger but its better than nothing at all!

    I honestly wonder the same about mine, because I gave her $80 and some homemade candies, and then the next monday, she had a bag full of toys (ok some used but great condition) for oliver. lol.

    I think sometimes we (here on the nest, and the bump, and the knot) go overboard just from talking to each other.

    I had a similar experience when I gave one of DS's teachers at daycare her gift - homemade hot chocolate.  She was so happy that we "thought of her."  It made me feel better about not having money to spend on the teachers.

    Ok. So I was also feeling really bad that all I could afford for DS' 3 teachers were 3 $15 Target giftcards. I put them in a very nice card with a pic of DS.
    This morning one of the teachers was thanking me for the gift and said that she absolutely LOVED the pic.
    I felt better since I knew they appreciated the thought. Smile
    I still wish I could have given them more money. But this is a very tight Christmas for us. Embarrassed
