Kidsme food feeder

I know food feeders mesh and silicon have been discussed here, but I have yet to buy one.  LO is loving purees and I would like to add some more for his lunch too.

He is 7 months, and I don't want to have them make a huge mess for his nanny to have to clean-she had a horrible time with the mesh ones for her own kids leaving a giant mess.

Have I missed the time frame for these until what age do you think they are appropriate?

Wait, I misread that you wanted to use them to avoid a mess not that you wanted ones that aren't hard to clean.  Reading fail lol  Anyway, I had said they're only good for exposure to flavors and that part I stand by.  You can use them for sure but they don't really give them anything of substance to EAT so I guess it depends on what your goal is, kwim?

  • IMHO, the best use of a mesh/silicone feeder is to help a teething baby.  It gives them something to gnaw on. It's not really for nutrition. They just get the flavor of something and the satisfaction of pressing against their gums.

Also, they're not all that messy, and even if they were, that's what the baby food process is - messy. I'm a little perplexed that any nanny caring for a baby would have an issue with cleaning messes. It's par for the course. My nanny has happily dealt with diaper blowouts, food smeared on baby and every surface within arm's reach, etc.  As far as the teethers go, my girl makes a much bigger mess with the sticky mushy reside of a teething biscuit than she does with a mesh feeder.

  • Thanks ladies. LO has teethers so I will just stick with those and not get the food feeder.

My nanny is actually awesome and very willing to clean up messes. I was pretty vague, not intentionally.  I can't say enough positives about  my nanny-she loves my son, changes dirty diapers, and has been instrumental in helping me with his 'routine'. She is at my house with him twice a week and while she is great at cleaning up messes, it might not always be the best way i.e. she spilled a jar of strawberry jelly on my dining room carpet and in trying to clean it up she actually smeared it into my carpet and made the problem bigger.
