Blankets at night?

Do any of you use blankets at night?  My dd uses a sleep sack but lately it has been chilly in her room and her little hands are cold in the morning.  The baby monitor said it was 67-68 in her room last night.  I know we are going thru a crazy temp drop right now which is causing it.  She is all over the place when she sleeps so it probably won't even stay on her.  I was thinking an afghan which is breathable cause of the holes.

  • We throw a blanket over DS but he pushes it off. His room was that temp last night too.

  • Not yet, we're still using just a sleep sack and jammies. We are in MN and it's absurdly cold right now, maybe it's time to get over my blanket fear. Using a humidifier seems to keep his room a little warmer though. DS also moves around his crib a lot at night so I also wonder if it will even stay on him.

  • We started using a blanket when we moved her to the crib a couple months ago - I use a crocheted blanket so it has holes.  I started using one of the A+A muslin ones, but it is so light it seemed pointless.  She does move a ton, and is only under the blanket the first hour or so she's asleep, but I still put it in there so she'll get used to it and maybe someday she'll actually snuggle up with it if she gets cold.

  • Yep.  DD has never liked sleep sacks so when she outgrew the ones we were gifted, we went to a blanket.  We also use one that is crocheted.
  • DS pulls up his A+A blanket to his nose to fall asleep and then pushes it away when sleeping. Snuggles with it again when he wakes up. I am zero worried.

  • We've been using a blanket for awhile. He had a sheet that he used when it was cool, but not cold, then we moved up to thicker blankets as it started to get colder. At this point, he has a crib-sized blanket that he sleeps with each night, though he usually moves around enough before falling asleep that he sleeps on top of it. I don't really worry, though with the super cold temps the last couple nights, I did sneak in and put a smaller blanket over him before going to bed myself.

  • LO has 2 blankets but he probably would be better off with a sleep sack since he pushes them both off of him.
  • Thanks.  I tried on and it lasted about 10 minutes before she completely turned around and ended up on top of it.  Thankfully,  it has been warmer in her room so just going to stick with the sleepsack.

No blankets here! DH and I were just talking about this the other day ( when/if we should introduce a pillow/blanket), but LO hasn't indicated the need for either. He also moves around so much at night, I'm sure a blanket would last about 20 seconds. We just decided to take our cues from DS.
  • I do a short sleeve onesie, fleece footsie Jammie's and a sleep sack, his room is colder bc it's an addition, so I bundle, sometimes I put socks on too, but then I think he's too hot, lol

  • I actually can't remember when my DS didn't use a blanket. He didn't like to be swaddled. We used the muslin blankets over him to about 3 months old then used a blanket. He loves cuddling with it and never had an issue with it. But my son is different and also sleeps on his stomach, that is the only way he will fall asleep and has always been that way. I say just do what you are comfortable with it.

Ditto to this.  DS loves his A+A blanket and snuggles with it periodically during the night and upon waking.  He is so cute in the morning because he pulls it up around him and sits up waiting for me in his crib.

  • My LO moves around so much a blanket would be useless. We sleep sack it and try to keep her room at 70 degrees. Her hands are a little cold now and them but she doesn't seem to mind. I notice sometimes she tucks them under her face (She's a tummy sleeper) or the sack so maybe that's her way of keeping them warm.

  • Yes she definitely moves way to much for a blankie. I tried but took it out after 10 mins cause she was on top of it

  • It's been super warm this winter so no need for a blanket in SoCal. If it ever cools off maybe toss one of the a+a in there. DS never liked being swaddled either.
