3rd Trimester

Bleeding at 33 weeks??

This is my first child. I'm very precautious about everything. I went to the bathroom just to pee and I wiped and saw bright red blood it wasn't a lot just a few dabs.. I was nervous and didn't know why I was bleeding... I go into the l&d, I stayed on the monitor and I'm starting to feel small cramps, now I'm on the monitor that tells if I'm having contractions,, and I was... The nurse examines me and says my cervix is closed and for me to drink water... I finished the water and go to the bathroom again and now I wipe and see green mucus. My fiancée calls the nurse and she said I'm overreacting and for me to go home.. I have a million questions... Was that safe for me to bleed? Was the green mucus my mucus plug?

  • Bleeding, contractions, and mucus CAN be normal for your stage in pregnancy.

But this is not a question for an internet message board.  This is a question for a doctor.

  • Do you think that was my mucus plug? I asked my dr and it seems they don't know what it was.

If your doctor didn't know what it was, what makes you think we do?? Did you take a picture?
Not that I or anybody else here wants to see it but you could show your doctor.

You can search mucus plug in google images and get a better idea. Even if it was, the plug regenerates and you can lose it more than once. Losing it does not mean labor is imminent, nor that you are necessarily dialating. It could also just have been an increase in discharge and not your plug. Don't worry too much. Now, if your water breaks, or you think it did, or you're having very regular close contractions, definitely go in. Braxton Hicks are very common for this stage of pregnancy. Drink plenty of water. Spotting (what you described) is normal (you have a LOT more blood flow to that area than normal), but bright red bleeding (enough to fill one or two pads) isn't. If you are worried, call your doctor.

    That was an immature comment?
She's right. We're not doctors. We are mothers.
Spotting or bleeding that makes you concerned enough to question it should be concerns for your doctor. Please tell me why jumping online to a community board will help.

@JennyCupcakes01  I'd ignore this one, she wanted to know if white watery discharge was normal a few weeks ago. $50 bucks says she'll be back again in a few weeks asking about a new color. Most likely red.
