I have posted her in the past but I do read daily and have been posting on a couple of other boards. So I hope you guys will have me back ;)

Information on me, I have completed 7 IUI cycles with unknown donor, and had 2 CP. After my most recent CP I went for RPL testing. I was hoping for answers something that I can do to make sure I can get pregnant and stay pregnant. I got my call from the RE today and was told I have Balance Transitional, meaning two Chrom. swapped places. I am okay and my health isn't impacted but it is the reason why I have difficulty getting and staying pregnant. I was and still am in total shock, I hadn't prepared myself for something there was just no way for me to just fix. My RE referred me to genetic counselor I am waiting for what date I can go see her. I guess from there we can assess weather or not we can move forward with trying to get pregnant with me as the carrier.

My RE said depending on what she says he can do IVF with PGD (pre implantation genetic diagnosis) really just testing to see if there are any defects and only transferring those without. I am terrified that this wont work. I need to meet with the RE again to also discuss having my SO start trying with IUI. I am pretty devastated with the thought of possibly not carrying, it is something that I crave. The whole pregnancy experience the not so good times and the good times I wanted that so badly.

I have seen that Reciprocal IVF, or using my SO eggs may also be a solution for us. I know I can get IVF covered for myself with my recent diagnosis, has any one had coverage for the SO if going this route?

Any thoughts or advice much appreciated.

Re: Re Intro

  • Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this.  I have friends IRL who are dealing with this exact same issue.  While IVF with genetic testing is an option, they do not have insurance coverage and are struggling on how to proceed.  I hope you and your wife figure out how to move forward.  And glad to see you back!

  • I'm sorry you are going through this. I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant with my wife's eggs. After 12 failed IUIs and 2 IVF cycles, I was diagnosed with low ovarian reserve and my insurance covered donor eggs. We submitted to insurance for them to cover a donor cycle with my wife's eggs and they approved. The only thing out of pocket was the required FDA blood work which was a few hundred dollars. Our clinic didn't treat her like a true donor so she didn't have to surrender any rights or anything. Hope this helps!

This helps a lot thank you so much! I have reached out to my personal insurance person that works between my and my insurance company to make it easier for me. I asked about what coverage we have for my SO giving me the eggs. Fingers crossed they give us good news.

  • Welcome back. I'm so sorry to hear about this new diagnosis, although I hope ultimately the information allows you to get your take home baby.

I cannot speak to the specifics of partner IVF and insurance in the United States. But if your insurance will cover donor egg, there is no reason they shouldn't cover it from your partner (that I can think of--although insurance companies always have their excuses!). @Manada and I are doing partner IVF, but we're in Canada so the health coverage is different.

    Best of luck

    ****loss discussed*****

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

    Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

    Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

    IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
    BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
    1st ultrasound (3/6  6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

    FET #1 December 2014
Intralipid infusion on Dec 10. Transfer of 1 day 3 nine-cell embryo into my uterus on Dec. 19. (acupuncture immediately before and after)
    BFP on Dec. 27; Beta 1 Jan 2 (14dp3dt): 665, Beta 2 Jan 4 (16dp3dt): 1859, Beta 3 Jan 6 (18dp3dt): 4449, Beta 4 Jan 10 (22dp3dt): 12,251.

  • Welcome back! I'm sure you've visited other boards, but I'm pretty sure there ate some Balanced Translocation people on PAIF, you may want to ask how they found success. Tons of people there did PGD too. I have an IRL fried who did IVF with PGD and of her 11 embryos only 3 were chromosomally sound. They transferred 2 and she has a healthy 16 month old now.

I'm sorry for your diagnosis and that having your child your ideal way may not happen...that just sucks. But, you'll find a way and the baby you take home will be the baby meant to be yours.
