legs crossed during sono ALWAYS = girl

I'm so tired of hearing this myth. It's one of the most obnoxious out there, IMO. Boy moms, please bust it for me. Tell me that some of you had shy guys too, so I can bookmark this thread and show it to people who annoy me.

Re: legs crossed during sono ALWAYS = girl

  • My firstborn son was crossed legged for the 20 week sono. They couldn't get some of the measurements and he was not sleeping during the 22 week scan so we got to see the parts.
  • That makes no sense. Both DS's had legs crossed at heals, but we could still see the goods.

  • During one of our ultrasounds our little guy refused to uncross his legs. He had them crossed at the knees & was still busy kicking so it looked like some weird scissor kickboxing. :o)

Have you not heard this before? Anytime I see a FB post or whatever that says they couldn't get a good shot of the sex parts, EVERY person comments "Oh, then it HAS to be a girl. Girls are modest." Ughhhhhhhhhhhsostupid.

  • At my 16 week ultrasound it took the tech a good 10/15 minutes to get him to cooperate. It still wasn't a perfect shot. He made it more obvious at the a/s.

  • Everyone told me "Oh, must be a girl." after our first elective scan went over 30 mins and no un-crossing of the legs. Even when we went back for a followup, it was still hard to get the legs out of the way. But there's definitely a weiner down there.

  • My girl was NOT shy to show her goods. I've never heard of this before....doesn't even make sense.
  • We have a shy little boy too. Had an elective ultrasound and he refused to uncross his legs for at least 30 minutes.
  • My SIL was pregnant the same time I was with DD and was 8 weeks ahead of me. We knew we were having a girl a month before they finally found out he was a boy because his legs were crossed. And recently I had a friend who wasn't able to see until a month before she had her boy.
  • Nope you still have a 50/50 shot.
  • Our's was crossed during the first part of our 18 week a/s too. He was sleeping and had them crossed. Fully open for the 20 week scan.
  • Im having a boy and at his US his legs were crossed at the ankles. But, he's sitting breech (breach?) so we still got a good view.
  • This baby girl was not modest whatsoever. I really get annoyed with the OWT too. I've been told several times my bump is too round and low to be a girl.. Umm okay?!

My girls freely showed their parts too. And I'm sooo tired of the gender guesses based on my belly. If only you could tell by looking at me what sex parts my baby has. Geez.

I get an ultrasound each time I go to the doctor. My baby BOY crossed his legs 2 of 3 times we tried to see his gender... Everyone kept telling me it was a girl.

  • well, I can debunk that myth...my daughter was a total slut and this little guy will be a man whore...they LOVE to show their goods to ANYONE with an U/S wand...

And PS, their legs are ALWAYS crossed at the ankles (something my daughter does even to this day).
  • DS1 had his legs crossed at my 16 week appt and they thought he might be a girl. This baby, DS2, had his legs crossed at my 17 week appt and they thought he might be a girl.

I have yet to figure out how the "meat and potatoes" were hiding, but they were. They are both very obviously boys.

Legs crossed or uncrossed has nothing to do with the sex. Neither does a needle over your belly or the Mayan calendar. The only way to tell is by blood test, dna test or presence of a penis or a vagina. Let's move on.

This one is a boy and his ankles were crossed at the beginning of his a/s but he later uncrossed them.

  • No modesty over here. Our baby girl was waving those legs in the air like she just don't care:

  • It's ridiculous, I agree. A baby doesn't cross its legs to be modest. Our little guy has never crossed his legs for an ultrasound but I think we just got lucky.

  • Boy here. Legs crossed and arms flailing around. Definitely a boy since I had genetic testing. Sheesh
  • This actually turned out to be true with 2 of my friends, through 4 different scans. lol My BFF was pregnant with her DD at the same time I was Pregnant with DS1. Her daughter crossed her legs for 2 U/S appointments in a row, one elective at 18w and one at 22 ish weeks I think. Nobody assumed it was a girl though. She got a 3/D scan further along which revealed she was a girl. Friend # 2, this happened at the gender/anatomy scan for both her 1st and 2nd pregnancies. She found out with her DD1 a bit later, when she was further along. With her 2nd pregnancy, they never found out until the baby was born, which unfortunately, she was born early as a result of the placenta detaching, and did not make it. :(

  • At my first u/s legs were crossed the whole time and you couldn't see anything.  There is definitely a boy in there based on the last one.
