Nursing tank reccomendations for hospital?

Hello!  Just hoping to get reccomendations for your favorite nursing tanks?  Also, did you wear them in the hospital with pajama pants, or stick to the hospital gown?  Trying to figure out what all I need to collect, and getting a little overwhelmed with all the options!  Any advice is much appreciated!!!

  • I got mine from Target. I wore those along with the gown so I could stay covered. I didn't even take pants because I was a RCS. A nursing bra would work too. I just liked that the tanks covered my stomach.

    Good luck!!

  • I got my nursing tanks from kohls. I wore the gown for the first few days that my bleeding was bad and then lounge pants with my tanks. I had a c section and two babies in the NICU so I was moving around a lot and wanted to be covered!

  • I wore the tanks from motherhood that have elastic and you just stretch them down. Then I had a nursing bra on under that. You could also use the tanks that have the snaps and the support inside if you don't think you need the support of a bra. I had a lot of hospital visitors and didn't want to wear the gown once I was able to get up an walk around. It's too hard to keep the back closed.

  • I had a c section and once the IV and catheter were out I changed into a motherhood maternity nursing tank and yoga pants. I wanted out of that hospital gown as soon as possible!
  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Bravado basics tanks: https://www.basicsbybravado.com/products/felicity-nursing-cami . Target carries them.  They are VERY stretchy and SOOO comfy.  My favorite nursing essential by far.

Although, I wore the hospital gown the 1 day I was in the hospital, then just put on maternity sweats, nursing tank, and maternity shirt to come home in.  that first week at home I pretty much work pajama pants, nursing tank, and a sweater/sweatshirt that opened in the front.

    I second this recommendation!

In the hospital, I pretty much just stayed in the gown.  I lost track of the number of doctors, nurses, and family members who can now say they've seen my boobs.  The first few weeks at home were spent in baggy shirts and yoga pants.  Now, I wear one of the Bravado tanks every day under a t-shirt or sweater.  They do like to ride up a bit, but all you have to do is tuck them in to prevent that.

I bought a nursing tank from Target. Only $20 and works just as well as the expensive ones. My daughter will be 1 in a month and it's still my favorite "bra".

I wore a hospital gown from my triage room, to my delivery room and about maybe 30 more minutes. I ripped it off during labor and never put it back on. I was allowed to shower a little over an hour later and immediately went into my own clothes. It's much more comfortable that way.

I love my bravado nursing tanks.

In the hospital I wore black maternity yoga pants, a nursing rank and I wore a cheap black cotton robe from target. I was very comfy and felt presentable for visitors.

I could not wait to get rid of that hospital gown.
  • I also like bravado tanks (the one with the adjustable band). With my first, I wore the hospital gown the whole time I was in the hospital. I had severe tearing, and I was most comfortable in the gown. With my second, I wore a tank and yoga pants. Here's the catch though. My milk started coming in while I was at the hospital (with my first it took a week to come in). Once that started happening, my nursing tanks didn't fit. It was a bummer because I really needed the support, but I couldn't stuff myself into the tank. So I would bring a nursing tank and maybe a maternity or other tank that is stretchy on top (when your milk first comes in, you may be as much as a few cups larger than you will be a week or so later when engorgement subsides). And if you're more comfortable in the hospital gown, then just wear that. Having the extra clothes certainly won't hurt.
  • I haven't tried the Bravado tanks that everyone raves about, but I sure plan to for my next LO.

I had both the Gillian O'Malley Target brand ones and some Walmart cheapies. At first I loved the Target ones.  They are super stretchy and did fit well at first.  But as my milk came in the bra part was a bit too tight for my liking.  Then as I lost some of that initial water weight after birth the stomach area was too big.  I'm average to skinny, but I have DD/E cups while BF'ing.

The Walmart tanks are actually a better proportion for me personally.  So I went and bought like 5 of them, and that's what I wore most days during our first 6-9 months of nursing.

As far as in the hospital, I wore just the gown the first 12 hours or so.  Then I showered, and I just felt more like myself with my clothes on. So I wore cheapie flannel pants, a nursing tank, and a cardigan sweater or zip up hoodie the rest of our time in the hospital.  One thing I didn't think about was that the zipper of a zip up hoodie was constantly scratching baby's face if I left it on, but unzipped while BF'ing.  So I preferred cardigan sweaters/wraps.
