Oh my. Gerber runs VERY small. So small that I quit buying it. However, I will say one to two sizes. I wouldn't buy anything newborn in Gerber. I'm very sure when my DD wore a 3 month Carters she was a 6-9 Gerber.
I think it depends on the baby, DD coUld wear the correct size in 3-9 Gerber. And was never more than one size larger than other brands. I will say I only used them to layer under other clothing because they were very thin and did not wash as well as other brands.

Oh my! 2 sizes is quite a lot of variation! Does it continue into toddler wear also?
We stopped buying the infant stuff, but my daughter wears a 2t pjs and I would for sure buy a 3t if I were buying Gerber.
I think Gerber really only makes jammies at this point. If you are looking for a good brand, Carters for onesies and such is a great way to go. They are thick and feel like a good quality.
I stopped buying any gerber clothing when my DS was an infant. It always ran about two sizes too small on him. I did receive a few gerber onesies as gifts after I had my DD and it was the same with her. Also, I found the material to be really thin and I don't like that. I like carter clothing much better.
One of my favorite layering pieces has been the thin cotton Gerber lap-shoulder undershirts, which go great under a sleeps and plays and long sleeve onesies or anything that will be snapped over.
The 18m and 24m sizes fit loosely, but comfortably on my average 5 m old. I was not a fan of any other Gerber item I owned. I also prefer Carters for baby staples. They have much more predictable sizing and great sales!
