High-Risk Pregnancy

1st Trimester Board

Hey ladies- have any of you been over to the 1st tri board?!? HOLY. COW. I have never seen so much hostility and crazy drama! There is some serious bullying going on there. Can I just ask any first tri questions here? At this point I'm blessed by being high risk.. Lol.

Re: 1st Trimester Board

  • Funny how much drama cycles through the first tri board - and the new BMB boards. We are just hitting second tri for July and things are evening out mostly.

Id say ask away, if people don't want to answer, they won't. But, I have found the ladies here to be super helpful. :-)

  • Great, thank you! :)
  • Still in first trimester myself for another week :) welcome!
  • I'm a STM...by no means an expert...but I will try to answer whatever you have. I was high risk with last pregnancy and this one as well. I'm due in September.

  • Thank you, ladies! I'm due September 12th. I'm 5 weeks 5 days along today. My heartburn is getting teeeeerrrriibble. So I feel the pregnancy becoming very real now. Haha. Also, I've been trying to take it easy since we found out, but my hubby is in the field and I'm by myself. So yesterday I started doing some cleaning and laundry, towards the evening through the end of the night, I got some pretty bad cramping. Is this normal? Should I just continue resting, and stop housework, etc?
  • Do your house work in small bites. During my early weeks I had times when I would work 15 min then sit down for 10 :)

At 12 weeks I feel much more normal again!
  • Wow, heartburn at 5 weeks?  I didn't start feeling that until just now (20 weeks).  That's rough.  I agree, do some housework, take a break, continue as much as you can.  I have a lot of cramping/pain doing anything physical starting around that time, do what you can do and hopefully DH will help with the rest :(

  • This pregnancy I am high risk due to Crohn's disease. I started cramping and bleeding on Friday. I realize that stress and strenuous work causes me to cramp. At work if I start to feel cramps I ask to sit down for a minute, if I'm at home I take a lot of time to rest until I feel ok to start again. Cramps are pretty normal in first tri (depending on the type and how bad they feel) but if you are also high risk you can't be to careful.

  • That's what I'm trying to do, just take everything slow. I'm high risk due to cervical insufficiency. I'm nervous about every little thing, and I'm so lucky to have the husband I have. He's willing to work all day and come home and wait on me hand and foot! I guess you can never be too cautious. :/
  • I just found out last Wednesday I'm expecting my 3rd child. My first was 8lbs 11oz and should have been c section but wasn't. My second is an angel and 13 weeks old. I was 20 weeks when I lost her. This pregnancy is high risk bc with my second she had spina bifida and they said her brain was dead. And I lost her. And I'm petrified to go through that again. :(
  • I could only imagine your fear with those type of complications :( I'm so very sorry. If you don't mind my asking, how did they discover that those things were wrong?

Drink lots of water! dehydration leads to more cramping. Take it easy, listen to your body. I didn't take it particularly easy in first tri - except for sleeping earlier than normal. But beyond that, I didn't change my normal behavior/activity. BUT, my high risk is due to other issues, not my cervix. The cramping I felt in first tri was probably my uterus stretching out, rather than any signs of trouble.

    Hope you are feeling better!
  • Hope you are feeling better. Some cramping and pulling is normal (known as Round ligament pain), however if you have bad cramping upon exertion I would do things in small chunks.if it doesn't subside, call doctor.

I'm not high risk for cervix issues so for me it's a little different. Hope you are feeling better!

BTW.... We have the same due date, although I suspect that mine will move closer to the beginning of Sept after the dating sono.
