Thoughts on hair coloring?

I'm in desperate need of some highlights (just a few on the top) because my roots are taking over my life!

Had my hair done at the beginning of my pregnancy, my MIL does hair and said it was ok. But is there a difference if how it could affect baby now that I'm so far along? I've heard not to, and that it's probably ok. Just wanting to hear what some of you ladies think, or have been told.

  • I'm certainly no expert on the topic, but from what I hear, highlights especially are a-ok because they generally don't even touch your scalp! Good salons are nicely ventilated too, so a half hour lounging with a magazine while you get your hair done sounds alright with me!!
  • My doctor says its fine :)

  • It's hair dye. It doesn't do anything to baby. Highlight away!
(And plus, if you do it now it'll look good even during the newborn phase!)

Thanks ladies! Not sure if it makes a difference, but I get bleach highlights. The proper ventilation makes sense :)
  • My thought is that I'm trying to wait until the end of the month to color mine so it's one less thing I have to worry about when baby comes ;)
  • My SIL is a cosmetologist, and two of the other girls in her salon just had babies this past year.  I figure if they can work with the stuff all day and have healthy babies, then getting your hair done once in a while won't harm anything!  Go have fun and feel pretty!

I would go ahead and do it.
I was waiting too... I needed a cut, color, brow wax, and manicure two weeks ago and none of them are happening for awhile. Babies are unpredictable!

  • I kitchen beautician'd my hair with a $6 box of Loreal and didn't lose any sleep over it, and I'll probably touch up before baby comes (as long as he cooks to term). That's the choice I made for me, maybe it can help you make your choice.
I did this too!!! No shame in my game lol.  I was going to do the salon, but didn't feel like sitting there forever.
  • I've been wanting to do my hair since I found out I was preg. Just shortly before I got highlights and now they have all grown out and it looks terrible. I was thinking of doing a full dye and just having the whole thing one nice, even color. I just gotta stop being lazy and get my arse to a salon.
