Too early?

Do any of you have your LO's sleeping in a crib yet? We have a co-sleeper right beside our bed but he really has never slept well in it. A few times during the day I have put LO in his crib and he did not cry at all. Yesterday he napped in there for over an hour. That's huge because right now he won't sleep anywhere but on me.
I'm thinking I might try the crib tonight.
Also, if you do have LO in a crib in a separate room, do any of you use a video monitor?
TIA!!

Re: Too early?

  • I use the angelcare monitor and am comfortable with that, no video monitor

  • With the first two boys we had them in the crib from day 2 home from the hospital. It was nice because when a lot of other people were having problems transitioning their babies to the crib at a few months, we never had to worry about it. They are still good sleepers and never come in our bed. Number 3 still isn't in it because he's an awful sleeper and I lack the energy to go in 30xs a night at this point. Hopefully soon though.

  • We moved ours two nights ago (he is one month old today). So far it's been great and he's sleeping as well as he was in the cradle, We're sleeping better without hearing him grunt and snort all night.

We have a video monitor, but I use it mostly for the sound at night.

  • Dd has been sleeping in her own bed in a separate room since the first night home. She sleeps fine in there and we don't have her in our bed.

  • We have been putting LO in her crib in her room from day 1. We have an audio monitor, nothing fancy though. She does great, we can even put here in there still awake around 8-9 pm and she falls asleep on her own without crying.

  • Thanks ladies! No bumpers on the crib, right?!

No bumpers. DS never had bumpers and had no issues with bumping himself on the crib or getting anything stuck in the slats.

  • My LO has been in his crib since 2.5 weeks. I use an audio monitor.

Nothing in the crib and no blankets, just a sleep sack/swaddle.

  • My LO was in a PnP until last week and had no problems switching to a crib. She sleeps a lot longer in her crib than the PnP.

  • LO has been in her crib since the second night home from the hospital. She's ten steps away from me and I use an audio monitor. She breathes a certain way when she's hungry and the sound of it wakes me up before she starts crying.
  • Sleeping in crib since the first week. Use the Angel Monitor and an audio monitor, though his room is close that I can hear him if he cries without the monitor.

  • LO has slept in his room since the night we came home. We have a regular audio monitor. It's great.
  • He's napping in his crib as I type.  I'm glad he feels comfortable there.  Co-sleeping isn't very restful for us.
    Our family is complete!

  • Another one whose LO has slept in her crib since coming home from the hospital. We only have an audio monitor and it's more than adequate.
  • Thanks again ladies! FX it goes well for us tonight!

  • Another person who has used the crib from day one. We also have a video monitor. The nursery is right next door to our bedroom so I can hear everything anyway, but its nice to be able to look on the monitor and see if he just fussing and might fall back asleep, or if we need to go in there.

  • Lauren sleeps in her crib in her room since getting home from the hospital. No monitors of any kind as I'm a super light sleeper. Her room is 20 feet from ours, and we keep our doors nearly closed.

  • We moved her to the crib two nights ago. She is 2 months old. She sleeps longer in the crib since she is getting more sensitive to noise and we were waking her up! We use the summer infant video monitor and love it!
  • Our LO sleeps in a bassinet in our room. The only time we were cosleeping was a week after we got home he seemed to only want to sleep with us. Now he sleeps great in The bassinet. We are deep sleepers so we want him in our room until 5-6 months or its hazardous having him in the bassinet.
  • I wouldn't say it's too early if it works for LO. I would definitely use the monitor though, otherwise you won't get any sleep because of worrying whether you will hear him or not when he cries.

We only have an audio monitor. We used it with DD and are sticking with it with this LO (though she's still in with us and will be till she's sleeping at least 5-6 hr stretches consistently). I think if I had a video monitor I would drive myself nuts checking it constantly.

  • We have LO in a Moses basket in his crib in the nursery. I just moved out two days ago (he's 6weeks) :) back to my own bed instead of on a mattress on the floor. We have the angle care monitor with sensor pad so I feel comfortable with that now.
He's coming close to outgrowing to Moses basket so we'll have to think about him just sleeping in the crib soon.

We have been using the crib since day 1. At first she didn't like it at all and would cry if she woke up in it, but she is slowly getting used to it and doesn't always cry now if she wakes up in it. I am still having her fall asleep in my arms first and then putting her in the crib. Once she gets a little more comfortable with the crib I will try putting her in when she is drowsy (4 weeks old today).

I feel a little bad putting her in a bare crib on her back, but that's what is recommended and I want her to be safe. I can't wait until I can tuck her in under the covers with her stuffed animals!

We use the Summer audiovisual monitor, but very rarely use the video. I got the one with video mostly for when she gets a little older and starts trying to climb out of the crib, etc.

ETA: I'm very happy with the monitor so far.

The crib is in a separate room so we can close the door and keep the cats out, but still have the cats sleep with us at night so they don't feel left out.
  • Crib is in our room. He sleeps in it every night about 3/4's the night. When we move into the house we just bought, we'll move it out of room and start transitioning him into sleeping in the nursery all night.

  • Same as some pp's crib is in our room. I don't think it's to late. We have slowly transitioned her to her crib with the CO sleeper in it Bc otherwise she wouldn't sleep in it...She has been doing really good so far
