NBR- Hair stylists chime in!

My hair has been super wonky ever since I had DD. Before C, I had normal hair. Now it gets super greasy/oily very easily, and is more thick. I use to use conditioner daily. Now it's non existent, and now my scalp is really dry and flaky- it's normally dry in the winter, but not this dry. I use American Crew tea tree oil dandruff shampoo on it every other day, but I don't see a difference. Should I use it everyday?

Any other suggestions would be awesome.

  • Tea tree shampoo is actually very drying. Crew does make an Anti-Dandruff shampoo, but if you have dry scalp and not dandruff, it will probably worsen it. Generally speaking, white flakes=dry scalp and yellow flakes=dandruff/cradle cap. I would try a moisturizing shampoo and a conditioner. Try washing every other day and give it a week or two for your scalp to balance out. Hopefully it will and your hair will be less greasy.

  • Also, try using cooler water to wash your hair. And you could use a dry shampoo to help with the oil in between washes.

  • I would maybe switch to Paul Mitchell's tea tree shampoo, if you really love the tea tree, and start using a conditioner. A volumizing conditioner should leave it less oily feeling. Also, maybe throw in a moisturizing shampoo to alternate with the tea tree to make sure you're not over-drying.

  • Today I used a different anti dandruff shampoo- garnier fructis, and used frekkai's volume conditioner on my scalp. So far so good!!
