Hi everyone, my daughter had always gone to bed routinely Around 8pm until a month or two ago now she is up till 10:30-11 at night she's just happy and a ball of energy but I would really like her to go to bed a little earlier. I've tried holding out on her nap but she always ends up passing out somehwere around 5 or 6...any tips are appreciated!

Re: 2yr old late bedtime

  • If she is going to nap have her go early...and sleep no later than 2pm. We have the same problem occasionally- my daughter will fight her nap and pass out at 5pm and will stay up later. She thinks she doesn't need a nap anymore... I know better!

Maybe if you see her starting to doze- try to engage her into an activity- up and moving!

  • I would not withhold her nap.  Getting her overtired will not help her sleep at night.  Does she sleep late in the morning?  I would slowly start waking her up earlier and earlier in the morning and then give her a quality nap at a reasonable time.  and then start putting her down earlier at night.  But I'd start with maybe 15 minute increments or so.  Good luck!  I cannot stay up till 11 so that's got to be tough.
  • Just give her an earlier nap. A 5 pm nap is WAY too late (if you want a kid to go to bed at a decent hour).
