how many diapers

about how many newborn diapers would you say ur baby used before switching to size 1? im finishing up my last minute items and dont know how many i should have on hand.

I think it depends on the size of you little one. Mine was in premie diapers for a couple weeks, and has been in newborn diapers for a couple weeks. We change about 8-10 diapers a day and newborn is for up to ten pounds. That being said, I anticipate using newborn diapers for at least 2-3 more weeks. So we'll end up needing anywhere from 200-300 newborn, but if you have a bigger baby you'll need much less than that...

My LO was 7 lbs 7 oz and we used newborn diapers for about 5 weeks at a rate of about 10 to 12 diapers a day. It probably should have been less time but he was slow to gain weight at first.

A lot of stores will let you exchange diapers for another size. So if you have newborns left when LO grows out of them you could exchange for size 1.

You may not want to stock up on too many. You do not know if your intended brand will be the proper fit. Some babies fit better in huggies, others in Pampers, others in store brands. Some babies get rashes and need to switch brands. You can always go out and buy more diapers, or order them from Amazon or diapers.com.

When I went diaper shopping, I only bought size one. I was going to skip NB diapers all together. Well, DD2 was a preemie and we had to buy preemie diapers. Both my other kids were in NB diapers for about 2 weeks. I wouldn't buy too many if I were you.

I agree on not buying too much. My LO only lasted 1month in newborn size. he went from 7.88lb to 11.4 by month 2. You really can't gauge how fast they'll grow

Only buy one pack to start with. You'll get some from the hospital and if you need more you can send DH to the store (or if you are antsy like me you can go yourself) to get more if you need them. My LO only wore newborn diapers a little over a week. You won't know how many they need until they grow out of them and you don't want to waste your money on diapers you won't use.

I never used NB dipes. Not even in the hospital. He was 10lbs 2oz at birth. I think I used maybe 300 size ones before switching to size two. He's 10 weeks old.......

My 8.5 lb babe used all the NBs from the hospital then went into size 1. He was over 9 lbs at his 1w appt. we could have kept him in NB for another 50 diapers or so, but Size 1 cost less and fit fine.
