Exercising/ shedding baby weight

Hey ladies!
Thanks for the awesome welcome!!
I am officially 6 weeks PP and want to start exercising to get back in shape. I've never been a fan of the gym so that's not really an option to help me. My question is have any of you ladies found an inexpensive and quick at home routine you do that has worked to shed the baby weight? I haven't lost as much weight as I would like and know exercising is def going to help! Thanks

P. S. Mini vent... Have to reschelde my PP appt because it takes a week to get the mirena BC approved through my dr office even though I called to see if it is covered and it is! I just want to have fun with my SO again! It's been over 2 months and we are both feeling it!! Would you wait until you had you're appt even though it's been 6 weeks or go ahead and do the deed protected?!?! I don't think either of us can wait a week!! Thanks!!

  • I love walking. It's something that you can do every day, with your LO, for basically nothing in cost. Before I got pregnant, I was doing about 7.5 miles a day, 3.5 in the morning with DS in the stroller, then another 4 on the treadmill while he napped in the afternoon. I haven't gotten back into it yet since I haven't put together my double stroller, but I hope to soon. I miss it!

  • I like to walk too but unfortunately it's always super cold here now and I hating being cold! I thought about going to the mall to walk but it takes so much to get the LO out the door that I can't see myself doing it more than once a week. But thanks for the advice
  • Gonna google the firm! I'm more of a work out at home with DVDs kinda girl! Just sick of the ones I have!
  • I did 30 day shred after I had DS2 and it worked pretty well so I attempted to do it this time and got extremely bored. So now I'm trying p90x. With switching up the dvd's daily I don't get bored as easily and for me to stick to something it really needs to keep my interest.
I've done Zumba DVDs in the past too and those are pretty fun!

  • Thanks ladies! I've been wanting to order the T25 system by beach body (makers of p90x) which I have done in the past but the hour long workouts made it hard to make time to do with work. I have been wanting to order it for awhile now and finally gave in! Should be here by the end of the week! Will let you know if it works!

I'd been thinking about ordering that one also. It only being 25 mins really sounds appealing. Let us know how it goes!

  • I got a fitbit over the holidays. It's a pedometer. I have found that really motivating. A few of my friends also have one so I can see their step totals and how I rank.

  • I joined a mommy and me bootcamp at the local gym. It gives me accountability and I get to meet other moms in my area. I also have insanity and ever Jillian Michael DVD known to man. And joined weight watchers. Diet is 75% of losing the weight.

It's really cold where I live (Ontario.) and right now am in the middle of a thaw so hello ice roads, all this means no walks for us which is how I lost all my weight years ago.

I'm also joining an aquafit class (mommy and me again) once Owen can hold up his head with out the speed wobble.
  • Walking and library DVDs: postpartum workouts, Zumba, etc.

30 day shred Jillian Michaels. She also has tons of other DVDs that have helped a lot. I will be getting back into that then starting cross fit once I'm in better shape.
I just found my 30 day shred DVD!  I'm hoping to start it soon, just need a little more motivation, and time!

  • That 30 day shred kicks my ass! But I love it. So far on week 2 but down 5lbs. I always did the firm but I got bored with it, so the 30 day shred is working. But I still really like the firm's 5 day Ab tape.. yes I said tape. I haven't been able to find a DVD of it. But if you can it's awesome.

I am 7.5 weeks pp and DH and I tried to DTD for the first time the other night. I've been cleared for activity for two weeks already but we were unsuccessful because I was in pain and was scared I would hurt myself. (For the record, I had had third degree tears with 21 stitches.) So I say go for it if you feel comfortable, but obviously use protection. Good luck!

  • How the heck do you guys have the time and energy? I love working out and can't because I spend most of the day getting Leo to nap, and by the evening we have to get the kids to bed. I'm so tired. What's your secrets?

@atxmamadoll ^^ what she said. Lol. I'd be a permanent fixture on the couch if I didn't do this. Plus LO falls asleep on the way to the class and sleeps through it (sometimes). And if he doesn't sleep the instructor put him back to sleep for me. She's a real help.

@bsmithmi I'm close to Ottawa. Close but not close enough. :(

@CFox815 I have been toying with the idea of signing up for yoga/Pilates classes as that is all I have close by. Maybe I'll do that for Sundays, and start taking long walks with LO. What classes are you taking? Oh, and since this thread I have started doing lunges and squats in the nursery while walking around getting LO to nap. It's like carrying a 12 lb. weight. Thighs of steel, here I come. Now, if I can figure out how to curl my baby without him getting squirmy, I'd be set. :-? ETA: should be two paragraphs, but I'm on the iPad

  • Glad this thread motivated you to start the lunges! I jut finished the first DVD of the T25 and it was intense! Only 25 mins long so as soon as my LO went to sleep I got to work!! It was intense and I can tell it is going to work! The hardest part will be staying motivated when I go back to work on the 3rd!
