BRU has a trade in event. I think it's coming up soon. I know they take expired car seats. I'd probably look into that. Also, I heard that BBB will accept the coupon you get from BRU for trading in.
Bru thows them out after the trade in. Unfortunately they do need to be thrown away, they are no longer safe . It must be a hand me down they are good for way more than two years.
I used a hand me down infant seat from my boss and it expired soon after we stopped using it. My husband is really big into recycling. He thought maybe we could recycle at least the plastic parts but he couldn't find any local places that would accept it. We ended up throwing ours out.
We also threw it out in pieces over two weeks and my husband cut all the straps. I was afraid someone would find it and try to use it. We have a lot of people that dig through the trash around our neighborhood.
Ya, once we decided to face DD forward due to her severe meltdowns, we were offered the car seat that my grandparents bought for outings with the other great-grandkids, but never made it out of the box. It was made in 2008, and I never liked the lack of head support so for Christmas we bought another one and the old one has been sitting in the basement being used as a cat chair taking up space. /:)
