food

Last night LO got bright red cheeks with blotches around face and nose. Spoke to the on-call pedi and she said it sounded like contact allergy. LO had eggplant with olive oil and sprinkle of parm cheese. I got the recipe from a baby recipe book since I make all his food. He is used to lots of different foods now. I mix a lot of foods together. The pedi said to scale back and not mix foods so do I just givve him one food a meal now? Do you think its ok for me to at least do his breakfast cereal with a fruit? Then just do one food a meal for the remainder of the week?

Re: food

  • I think it's ok to mix things that you know he doesn't react to. Go back to basics a little bit until his system resets. Then try each of those thing separately to see if one of them caused the problem :)

  • I just wouldn't give him any eggplant, olive oil and Parmesan cheese for awhile and then introduce each one of them again by themselves to see what is causing the reaction. Ds1 had a reaction to cinnamon and we avoided it for awhile and then reintroduced it a few months later and he was fine.

  • What @cricket81 said.  There's no way to test out every single food that exists before mixing but what you experienced is why it gets tricky.  Now you have to do each of those foods alone or with something you know he doesn't react to.

  • Yes, I always mix when he's had the food for alone for a few days and no reaction.
