Late Term and Child Loss

PAL Checkin

***Siggy warning***

Welcome to Friday PAL Checkin! This CheckIn is for everyone who is parenting after a loss. If you have an older child or a rainbow baby or both you are welcome to share here.

I hope everyone is having a good week. If anyone has any suggestions for questions, please don't be shy!

Where are you in your PAL journey?

What are some PAL challenges you have faced recently?

QOTW: For those who now have rainbow babies after a loss, did the name you chose have significance related to your loss? If you have older children, did they help you choose the name for your angel baby?

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?

Where are you in your PAL journey? Anna just turned one year old (9 months adjusted). Patricia would be 21.5 months if she were born alive.

What are some PAL challenges you have faced recently? Anna's birthday was hard, both because it shouldn't have been her birthday yet and because we will never get to celebrate with Patricia what we do with Anna. Though I feel I should be more thankful for Anna since we lost Patricia, our difficult journey with her makes it hard.

QOTW: For those who now have rainbow babies after a loss, did the name you chose have significance related to your loss? If you have older children, did they help you choose the name for your angel baby? Our girls share a middle name, thus my blog "Loving the Kirstens." In dreaming of more girls' names, I consider Patricia. I won't reuse her name, but I also won't choose another "A" name, because I don't want her to be left out.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? We booked our tickets to go to Europe for two weeks in May to visit the ILs. It seems far away but I have a lot of prep work to do. I need to get Anna's U.S. passport application in and am working out who of her specialists we need to see before we go. I need to request a CD of her MRIs to take with us and map out hospitals capable of neurosurgery in case she has a shunt malfunction while we're traveling. This is a good start to my list... :-)

Our Angel Patricia born sleeping 3/30/12 at 31 weeks
Our Fighter Anna born early 1/8/13 at 26 weeks
Hoping to bring home #3 due 9/9/15
