Pumping in public

I exclusively pump, as I did was ds1. When I traveled via air with ds1 I would pump in the airport terminal and my plane seat by just putting on my hooter hider. I'm traveling this week but I'm second guessing doing that as I've read that some of you pump in the restroom. Does anybody else pump in public and just cover up or does everybody go in the restroom? It seems kind of gross to me pumping in the scruddy bathrooms.

I think you should do what you are comfortable with. I would nurse DD in those places as long as I can be as discreet as possible so I don't see any reason why you shouldn't pump.

Exactly this for me too. I don't really feel comfortable pumping in a bathroom but that is just me. I nursed all throughout the airport the past 2 weeks. I figured people would rather awkwardly see me nursing over hearing a screaming baby.

I wouldn't pump in an airport bathroom- those places seem so unclean. I would just nurse in public, or pump discreetly (I drape an infinity scarf when I pump in my car).

I pumped on the train using my Hooter Hider and was just fine. My colleague was sitting across the aisle and didn't even seem to notice. So, go for it!

I am all for doing whatever you are comfortable with. I have nursed my baby in the airport terminal/airplane but when I was traveling for work felt uncomfortable pumping in those exact same locations. Yep I am weird but if you are ok with it by all means pump away.

ETA I was dumping the milk as the logistics of keeping everything I pumped during that trip were impossible so the nastiness of the airport bathroom wasn't a concern.

I used my manual pump at a concert and pumped about 4oz at my seat. I then did the same thing on the train on the way home. I was dumping it because I was drinking but all I did was put on my cardigan backwards and pump. Do it if your feel comfortable.

I pumped in the airplane/airport bathroom because I wasn't comfortable doing it in my seat. Plus I didn't have a cover up, and I was pumping and dumping so I wasn't worried about cleanliness.

You should do what you're comfortable with though, and good for you for being comfortable doing it in public. I need to get there.

Same here! I also do a lot of manual compression while pumping which seems like it would be a little more awkward in public
