Holding LO and running

My mom is convinced DD will get shaken baby syndrome if I run with her at all. I'm not talking about going on a run or running with her in a carrier. I'm talking about picking her up to run across the backyard to get a ball or run down the hall for fun. I usually hold her out a bit so she's not bouncing a ton. Anybody have any info about this? I googled it but all I could find was stuff talking about running with a carrier. I thought it was totally normal to run occasionally while holding her, it's not like I did this when she was tiny and couldn't hold her head up.

Re: Holding LO and running

  • Yeah, I do this all the time. Like playing around, from the car to the store when it is raining. That us ridiculous. Shaken baby syndrome happens when small babies (not 17 month olds) are violently shaken. Not bounced a bit.

  • Thanks. I thought she was being ridiculous too but she was so adamant about it I started to wonder.

  • Haha your mom should see DD and I bounce like crazy with her sitting on my lap on an exercise ball. :) she loves it, and no shaken baby syndrome!

  • So that would mean all the running toddlers are gonna end up giving themselves shaken baby syndrome? No.
