I love everything about your comment. Especially the "I think lo would like a sibling." Um, first off, he doesn't know that word. Secondly, how would he know?? He has no concept of what it would mean to have a sibling. I got to have a heart to heart with my mom over that one.

Also my phone is being sucky and I can't text below your quote.

I posted "How is DD already x months, time flies" (or something to that effect) and got a "Must be time for another" comment...why? Would time move more slowly that way?

Although the worst is my MIL, anytime I say "If we have another..." she responds with "I think L would like a sibling"... Umm, she has no idea what a sibling is & won't know any different if she never has one. I've stopped saying anything about it to her and told DH its his job to tell her we are oad.

  • That's just silly. Is the Chinese food industry run solely by pregnant women then? I'm pretty sure people want Chinese food all the time. Not to mention, if you're like me, eating was so not a sign if pregnancy. I kept almost nothing down for almost 7 months, multiple hospital visits and I lost almost 30 pounds. I didn't gain any weight until around 35 weeks and I weighed less than when I started after I had my son. I would've loved to have not thrown up at the mention of Chinese food.

  • I hate that garbage. I don't get it often since most people know H had a vasectomy, but I do sometimes.  I got it last month with someone.. "I think I have a stomach bug" ..  and she says "maybe you're pregnant!!!" .. uhhhhhhhh no. It's a stomach bug.

Apparently if you want Chinese food and have a stomach bug you are pregnant.

    (I'm having Chinese tonight!!)

  • Married women without kids at all get that a lot too. Drives several friends crazy.

  • Lol your responses are cracking me up this morning. To add to the fury of silly people DH's "fortune" said "a tiny lucky package is on it's way to you soon" LMAO. I sent it to my BFF only. We got a good giggle.
  • With DS starting school in the fall we've been getting a lot of "Time for another one soon, right?" Um, nope.  I'm pretty excited to have a little time to myself thank you very much!

That did start when my DD went to school. Because I didn't know anyone, so they weren't aware of our family status. And I got "are you going to give Alexis a baby brother or sister?" I just got used to it.

  • I think I'm one of the few on the OAD board that rarely gets comments about having another.  I really can only think of one time it was mentioned by a co-worker, and it wasn't pushy at all.  We must have made our OAD stance pretty clear!

  • I got annoyed by the comments about having another or the "..you must be pregnant!"s. Now, whenever my MIL mentions she has a craving for something or says she feels queasy, I ask her if she's pregnant. (she is clearly past menopause)
I get a kind of sick satisfaction from it :P

I very rarely get repeat offenders, and those people tend to be my parents or ILs (so grandparents). And they don't do it anymore. I think I have a pretty solid OAD confidence that makes people never question a second time.

We've only ever gotten grief from one of DH's aunts. And her two kids fought constantly until their 20s. Nothing yet from other family, coworkers, strangers...
