Hopkins vs GBMC

Hi,

I'm due in early September and this is my first pregnancy. Since it's so early to tell (I'm about 5-6 weeks) I don't want to discuss options with others for fear of outing myself... Does anyone have experience with Hopkins vs GBMC? I am looking into the Maternal Fetal Medicine practice (located in the main hospital) and Perinatal Associates in Towson.

Any experiences or advice are appreciated!

  • I see Perinatal Associates in Towson and love Love LOVE them.  I have seen Drs. Weitz, Cyzeski, and Kazami and all three have been wonderful.  This is my first child as well, and they have been BEYOND helpful.  I also spent some time in the GBMC L&D in October because of kidney stones, and the nurses were wonderful.  I have been in other L&D departments in other hospitals when my sister and friends gave birth (all out of state, not here....), and this was sooo much nicer.  The rooms are VERY clean and they have a couch that converts into a bed if you need it for your spouse or other visitors.  The nurses were all very nice and extremely professional.  The experience I had there in October definitely puts me more at ease for when we plan to go there next month.

Good luck.  Feel free to message me if you have any questions about the practice...seriously, I cannot say enough good things about them.

  • Hopkins was good.  Nice new hospital.  Dr. Henderson was very nice.

  • I delivered at Hopkins.Very impressed and Extremely happy with them. I also met Dr Henderson at one point. Loved her. I was seen by the Hopkins MFM practice at Greenspring. Dr Milio was my main doctor and she was great.

  • I know I posted before, but I just wanted togive you an update. I went into labor on Wednesday morning, five and a half weeks early. They were absolutely amazing. Everyone from L&D all the way to the NICU. My son is still in the NICU as I type this. Allof the staff in L&D were amazing, from thetime I was admitted to the time that I hadto have an emergency C-section because my son's heart rate was falling rapidly. The nurses in the Maternity ward were fabulous, keeping me in the loop and explaining EVERYTHING that was going on with my body (the good, the bad, and the ugly). I don't havethe words to describe how much I appreciate what the nurses in the NICU have done forour new little family. Not only have they taken excellent care of him from the moment he was born, they have taught me so much aboutmy little boy and how to take care of him. Seriously, go with GBMC....you will NOT be sorry.
