How are you managing LO's eczema?

It's definitely a battle over here for us, her eczema started out as 2 small rashes on each arm than spread all over her body including her face!

I heard a lot of good things about Aveeno baby eczema lotion so I gave that a try and LO broke out in hives.. So that's a no go.

Than I started using burts bees multi purpose ointment which keeps her hydrated for a tiny bit after I put it on, but it's not clearing up any of her dry cracked skin unfortunately.. I'm not sure what else to do. I only bathe her every couple days in luke warm water and I've switched to free and clear detergent. No luck.

Have you found anything that clears up your LOs eczema? Her pediatrician won't prescribe her anything just yet she said and I'm just feeling awful that my poor babe has to sit here with dry cracked skin from head to toe.

Best combo so far is 1% cortisone cream on the really bad spots and aquaphor everywhere else. However, since these only treat the ezcema, we are trying a dairy free diet to see if it will help to prevent the rashes.

If you breastfeed you could try making sure you are getting a lot of omega 3's and healthy fats to keep LO's skin supple. A humidifier in the room should help keep baby's skin moisturized. Also be sure you don't overdress them or turn your heat too high since that definitely makes the itchiness worse.

Our pediatrician suggested to use 0.5-1% hydrocortisone cream on the bad areas and it helped a lot. She had just a few small spots on her knees and elbows but they kept getting bigger and spreading. I could tell it was starting to bother her and it seemed like other lotions almost hurt her in those bad areas, the hydrocortisone cream doesn't seem to bother her.

Short frequent warm water baths (soap only every other or every third time). As soon as she comes out of the tub she gets lubed up with aquaphor like a grease monkey (and then immediately goes into fleece jammies). In between baths she gets Eucerin cream (in the tub) on her body and Cereve on her face. We've also put olive oil on some of the bad spots in the past and then covered with aquaphor. This is the best solution we've found. My pedi also OKed hydrocortisone, and I've used it a few times on her arms but I was warned to not put it on her face (dermatologist told a friend).

A few weeks ago I switched to Mustela Stelatopia cream cleanser and the moisturizing cream. It's made a huge difference in LOs eczema. Mustela is available at Target, BRU and BBB.

My pediatrician recommended we use cetaphil cleanser and lotion. I agree with pp, short warm baths, don't dress too warm, aquaphor in creases. I had his eczema all cleared up but his teething has caused a flare up on his face. I have also started removing known allergies from my diet in case his eczema is a symptom of a food allergy.

Vanicream, mustela for bath, hydrocortisone on bad areas. Dd, ds1&2 all had/have it bad. Ds3 somehow got spared... For now.

DS had it bad on his head and face, Dr prescribed hydrocortisone and it cleared up within 3 applications. I am now using aquaphor, hoping it doesn't return. I had the same bad reaction to Aveeno Baby eczema cream.

DS has horrible eczema and he also had a bad reaction to the Aveeno. We use the Rx steriod for really bad flare ups (he is 3 now and we weren't prescribed it until he was 12 months), but Eucerin lotion (in the tub) does and amazing job of keeping his flare ups to a minimum. We have only had to use the Rx 4 or 5 times in the last two years, since we started with the Eucerin.
