Baby Jogger Mini GT or Elite?

I need help deciding which of these to get. Here is a bit of info about us:

1. We currently live in the city of Chicago, but are considering moving to the suburbs.
2. Living in the city we mainly drive our own vehicle and park when we go places, however we do occasionally take mass transportation.
3. I am 5'2 and need to be able to lift in into the back of our GMC terrain.
4. We are looking for something that can handle shopping trips, sidewalks, and the occasional walking path/trail.
5. In the summer we like to attend street festivals held in the city as well as take our dog to dog parks.
6. We prefer to have just one main stroller (other than maybe an umbrella stroller) that will fit all of our needs.

  • To me the Elite is too heavy... we have the GT and it meets your needs (I am barely 5'1"). There are also the Valcos to consider if you want something even lighter, there is the Snap or something cannot recall.

  • I don't see anything that suggests you would need the larger Elite. I have the GT and love it. I'm trying to make it our only stroller (besides our SnG) but will probably get an umbrella stroller eventually. Reading your description again, it looks like you would do OK with the regular city mini. I suggest checking them out in person. The regular city mini is a lot lighter which is nice.

I have the Valco Snap Dual and LOVE it. I cannot say enough good things about it. The double weighs 22 lbs but is easier to use than our Uppababy G-luxe. The single weights the same as the G-luxe at 12 lbs so I would think it would be perfect for you. It's also wonderful going over things like gravel, grass, and playground wood stuff....and takes up less room, has a bigger basket, and weighs less than the City Mini. For you I would think the Snap or City Mini would be be your best option.

Just a hint...Valco is getting rid of their Silver color right now, so you can buy direct through their website cheaper than amazon ($179 vs $249). They also have other strollers you can check out.

Valco Snap, especially with air tires would be awesome.  I like the Baby Jogger Versa too since you can add all terrain GT wheels and it's reversible. I would pick that over the City Mini GT.

I also live in downtown Chicago and I have the Mini GT. Love it. The elite is too big for me. I love love it. Have taken it everywhere. All the museums the zoo the parks. It's great!
  • I love the Elite but it is a big stroller and not one that you want for day trips like shopping. It's not really that much heavier had the GT but it is wider and bulkier. I can lie my CIty Mini flat in the hatch of my Honda Element but the Elite has to stay up on its side. Like others have said, there's really nothing that you want to do that the GT shouldn't be able to handle.

  • We went with the GT!  2013 models are on clearance right now at BuyBuy Baby, Amazon and more!  We got ours from Amazon so we didn't have to pay tax and I am a Prime member so shipping was also free and fast.  I had some rewards points to use there.  With those and the clearance price we got it for  $117 (and that doesn't include not paying tax) less than what you would see it originally listed everywhere for.
