I'm not going to lie...

I love when people touch my belly!

I think it's because my mom is NOT a touchy feely person, so there's no nurturing love when I talk to her about being pregnant or when I see her, which is rare (she lives in WI, I live in MD). For this reason, I have no problem accepting hugs and affection.

Today my nail tech rubbed my belly. Loved it. My kids at school constantly touch my belly, I think hoping to feel the baby move. The other day my friend's Chilean mom basically gave me a full frontal body exam. Kinda weird, but it was so maternal that I found myself completely accepting of it. So far everything has been from people who I know by name, so I say "Bring it on!"

Yes, I realize that this essentially makes me a dog looking for a belly rub. Woof Woof.

Re: I'm not going to lie...

  • My MIL "rubbed" my belly when we told her I was pregnant at 5ish weeks. I looked at MH and said "Your mother just wiggled my fat" lol she hasn't touched my belly since....

  • I love it too! Although so far everyone has asked beforehand and it's all been people I know so... I am hoping that stays that way. I don't know how I'd react if it was someone I didn't know but I'm loving it so far. Maybe it's the attention I like? Does that make me an attention whore?? Haha

  • I definitely want people to ask first. Then I still don't like it but I'm very much not a touchy feely person.

Then it makes me one too. I figure this is the one time in my life that I will have a hard stomach. Maybe I should enter a swimsuit contest...
  • Family and friends/people I know I'm good with. I'm even better if they ask, but for them, it's not necessary. Strangers better back off though. I'm trying to teach my kid the meaning of stranger danger! :)

  • I'm pretty happy that I haven't had to deal with too many belly rubbers. I notice people staring at my bump a lot though, which is creepy. I hope I never did that!
Yes, I could do without the staring, unless it works to my benefit. We were at a crowded seat-yourself restaurant the other day, and were able to get a table because a kind couple who were leaving noticed my big ole belly. Thanks, Baby Boo. I would have eaten standing up if needed, but it was nice to sit down.

  • I don't mind people I know touching my belly but I find it a bit strange when people put their face right up to it and start talking to it. One of my coworkers even put her ear up to it to see if she could hear the heartbeat. Ummm....no.

  • I don't mind it, but like some of you said- so far it hasn't been anyone I don't personally know yet... That would be different

I'm the same way. Not into random strangers rubbing my belly. So far, no one has tried. DH's grandmothers have and both my mom and MIL have. My MIL actually touched it for the first time this weekend and I felt the same way as OP; it was a nice moment. She is not touchy-feely either (nor am I) and tends to be more reserved so I loved that she was excited about it and was comfortable doing that.

  • I don't mind touching by people that I know.....rubbing is creepy!
  • A lot of the teenagers I work with are very touchy-freely and I usually don't notice it. But a few of their moms have tried to touch my belly and that makes me uncomfortable. I don't know why!

I don't like it when my own mother touches it. She does it in a very loving and ooey gooey way and I just can't stand it.

I love it when my husband does it. We probably all do, I hope. I'm self conscious about my belly sometimes, but when he puts his hand on my belly it feels like he is so proud of what we created and proud of me for cooking it. :)

I don't mind it so much now that I have an actual belly to rub!  But I would prefer people ask...

We were in Mexico over New Years and a complete stranger (a man!!)  touched my bare belly in the pool!!! WTF! Not impressed...
