Professional maternity photos?

I'll be 17wks in 2 days.  I'm thinking I would like professional maternity photos, but have no idea when would be the best time to schedule them.  Towards the end of 2nd trimester?  Very beginning of 3rd trimester?  I want to have a big cute bump, but not be a blimp (and by the time I'm a blimp, I could very well be on bedrest and not even be able to have pics taken).  Suggestions??

Re: Professional maternity photos?

  • I'm not sure. I did mine with DD last minute and was 36 weeks. I am scheduled to do them this time around with the twins just shy of 27 weeks. I would have done it a week or 2 later, but DH and DD will be out of town for SIL's wedding and we had find a time that worked for everyone. I wish though I could do closer to 28-30 weeks, but at least my face is not super puffy and I still have a significant bump...that is growing every day.

  • I'm a professional photographer, and I tell women that the best time for a SINGLETON is between 32 & 34 weeks. You look round & pregnant, but you aren't to the gross sweaty stage yet. With multiples, I would suggest probably around 25 weeks. You'll feel ok-ish & you'll definitely have a round belly. HTH!

  • I would get them done around 26 or 27 weeks. I am at 30 now and I feel like in the last 3 weeks I have gotten much more puffy and uncomfortable.

  • I would concur with 25 weeks. You will be pleeeeenty pregnant then without looking and feeling like you are hurting all the time. That's when I did my shower and I was definitely starting to be worn out by littler things (and measured 33 weeks at the time)

  • My sister was awesome enough to take my photos (I'm cheap, and she did pretty good). We did a shoot at 27 weeks and another at week 30. I was feeling pretty good at week 27, able to move and be comfortable and all, but it was a lot tougher at week 30. Plus I'm looking enormous by week 30. I agree with other posters that around 25-27 weeks is perfect. By week 30 my bump was less cute and just...really big.

  • Looks like doing them right at 27 weeks is probably best...and here I was thinking I should reschedule. Glad I read this. Still need to find something to wear.

  • I did mine at 22 weeks. It may have been a tad early, but I definitely had a bump! I decided to do them a bit early because I wanted to use some on our Christmas card and shower thank-you cards. 25 weeks for me would have been after Christmas.  I agree that near 25 weeks is a good time frame. I'm now 27 and starting to be very tired and uncomfortable.

  • I did mine at 29 weeks. I was on modified bedrest at the time so I had to take it easy. But they turned out well.

  • I'm doing mine during week 27. I'm 25 weeks right now and have had a huge growth spurt in the past few days. I hope the growing slows down over the next 2 weeks because I don't want to be too huge! I'm excited about pictures, but I'm a little stressed about figuring out what to wear!

  • I did mine at 24 weeks(triplets) I'm measuring 36 weeks so I love my bump size in my pics. It was hard to move around though and walking form spot to spot. Side note bring water with you for the shoot. All the walking made me very thirsty!
