January 2014 Moms

Team Green turned Team Pink! (PIP)

Short version:
Brianna Ashley was born 10:25pm Saturday January 11th after only 8.5 hours of labor. She was 'only' 8 lbs (I was expecting bigger since DD1 was 8lbs7oz and they say 2nd ones are generally bigger) and 20.5 inches long.  A pic of DD1 meeting Brianna.

Very very long version with all the details for those who want them:
I went for my 39 week appt on Friday morning.  I had progressed a little since my last appt at 37+3 so Dr. asked if I wanted my membranes stripped.  He didn't seem to hopeful but I thought it wouldn't hurt to try.  I was a bit crampy the rest of the day but nothing worth speaking of.  That night we went to my moms, and she kept DD for the night just because.  I agreed, and figured a good night of sleep wouldn't hurt.  Woke up at 6am feeling more rested then I have this entire pregnancy!  Good thing.  DH and I went out for breakfast.  I started losing my mucous plug around 8am, but reminded myself that some people walk around with no mucous plug for a week.  I went back to my moms to pick up DD to go home, and stayed there for a bit.  By lunchtime I was feeling alot of pressure like baby was dropping a whole bunch, and my back got really sore.  At 1:45 pm we headed home and I got my first contraction on the way home.  Once home I told DH that there was a good chance baby was coming, so he went to the school and got all his stuff ready for a sub teacher for today if he'd need it.  By 6:30 pm I couldn't really walk or talk through them so I called my sister to stay with DD1 and we headed to hospital, arriving there around 7:15.  I was a 4.  I labored in the shower for a bit.  My water still hadn't broken so the Dr. came and checked me and I was only at a 6 after 2.5 hours.  He broke my water and 30 minutes later I was pushing.  Those 30 minutes were the craziest, most painful ever!  I'd asked for an epidural when they broke my water but I progressed too quickly and didn't get it.  She was out in 5-10 minutes of pushing.
We've recovered really well, and are just home.  She's a good baby so far, breastfeeding like a champ!
