Advice from other BMB's?

I saw that Oct 14 and Nov 14 had some posts already and took a look. Oct 13 and Nov 13 have put announcements on the boards giving advice.

Am I the only one that finds this a bit condescending? Not all moms on BMB's are first timers. Even if they are, let the new moms have their own BMB and learn as they go.

I don't know, just rubbed me the wrong way.

I think it's normal for new boards to get assigned a "veteran" to act as a mod and get things established, help with siggys, etc...

Of course how they're wording things is a different story. I know the announcements we have at the top of our board have helped me out some... especially with my signanture

Yes!!!! (Our 2nd kids were born just a few days apart)

So, if you're part of Oct 13 and a first time mom...your baby may not even be 3 months old yet.

Glad I'm not alone in my thoughts!

Idk, my first BMB had like 4 second time moms, so when another BMB chimed in it was welcomed

I think it's something of a tradition around TB maybe?

On my Nov 11 BMB I remember Nov 10 doing it for us and we did for Nov 12. But there always seemed to be a little bit of drama in the thread - some people were condescending with their advice.

I think Aug 13 threw us a GIF party didn't they?

My impression is that there are WAY more 2+ moms on this board than there was on my first board....maybe TB is growing in popularity? I think BMBs have only been around a few years anyway

Oct '13 - this is the other time lurkers come in when you talk about their board.

I just wanted to say that we had Oct '12 do this for us and we liked it. We have advice on how to make the most out of The Bump experience. We did not post child care advice.

It's more of let's take you under our wing thing. I can see how maybe someone could take it the wrong way. It's all in good fun. If they don't like it they don't have to read it it they can come back and GIF bomb us. We know how to pull up our big girl panties and just deal. All in all it was done with good intentions.

I agree with Cruel, although I think a welcome post, or "congratulations, I remember this time last year how I excited I was" type of thing is ok. I do think it's weird to do it before people are even posting on the board though. It's like a rush to be the first poster on the board. I don't get it.

They did post one for us and it was hilarious. I remember when my June11 board made a post for the June 12 board but it was just one post. I think it was well received.
