Finding out the sexes at a/s

Hello, We had our a/s last Monday. The tech said both A & B are male. I think A is pretty clear but I do not think B is that clear. Is it more difficult for them to tell with multiples? From what I've been reading, an umbilical cord or labia can be mistaken for a scrotum/penis. I've had a feeling all along, along with the rest of my family that we were having one of each. So I just keep wondering if the tech was wrong. Do you normally have any other ultrasounds to confirm? Of course the sexes do not really matter, I'm just thrilled for two healthy babies. I would like to know though

How far along are you?
I was convinced my baby b was a boy, but they were right about her being a girl as early as 13 weeks (angle of the dangle). Every appt until about 32 weeks I asked. Dh thought I was nuts. I had a ultra sound with the MFM every month. And sometimes on in the ob office.

Feelings do not determine the sexes of your babies. By the time you're having your A/S, it's usually pretty easy to tell. Mistakes are always possible - but less likely. Do you have a picture of the one in question?

Chances are slim they would tell you the sexes without being 99.9% certain. Welcome to team blue! Twin boys rock!

I was certain I had one of each, too. I was told likely 2 girls at 14 weeks. At 18 weeks two different techs confirmed two girls. At my 21 and 24 week checks ups I asked them to double check - still two girls. I guess what I'm saying is you are not alone in second guessing, but I don' t think they make mistakes that often.

I was absolutely certain I was having two boys from the get go....I had multiple dreams and that was just my feeling. When my OB told me they were 2 girls I just about fell off the table. Even after that I had dreams I was having boys. I only had one more ultrasound at 35 weeks to see their growth and how they were positioned. I didn't ask the gender at that appointment. I seriously didn't believe they were 2 girls until they were born..but, here they are! Nowadays ultrasounds done at the right week (s) are pretty accurate, especially if you were told 2 boys. Congrats on team blue!

I was certain I had one of each also. Even after I saw both penises there was a thought in the back of the head... until today. She showed us 4D views of their tinkies

If you are far enough along for an A/S, it is likely that the gender determination is correct. Since you are having twins, presumably you will have other u/ss ongoing and they can confirm. My NT GUESS was a girl and possibly a girl, my 16 w a/s was pretty clearly two boys and they stayed that way despite my hopes for a girl ha. There is no difference in seeing this with multiples, though my 37 week u/s was a lot harder to see anything specific as there were legs and arms everywhere.

As far as I know it's no more difficult to see parts on twins than singletons. With DD and with Baby B the tech saw, and showed us, the three white lines that mean female. I'm not sure what boy parts look like as far as white lines etc. but it seems unlikely to me that they would be getting it wrong at this point. I know I have an u/s at every appt and I assume you probably have several more than average as well so you could always ask them to look again.

Thanks ladies! I'm 20 weeks now and was 18 weeks at my scan. I'm sure it's pretty accurate, just couldn't help to ask!

16 weeks and earlier it is much more likely for the unlikely misgender guess. FWIW, b/b twins are pretty awesome

I'm Team Green, but I know the tech didn't have any difficulty finding sexes on either baby. Additionally, I am now having monthly growth ultrasounds, and they are looking at anatomy each time with those, as well. I am guessing you will have more ultrasounds too, with plenty of chances to confirm!
